Asila,

Although I agree with Lansbury that they call them minimums for a reason (ie: if they wanted more, they would just raise the minimum!), You could throw in some assets if you have them. The easiest would be just a savings account (his or yours) which already has cash, then you don't have to make any calls about the liquidity etc. The nice thing about assets is that you can use either the US petitioner's OR the UK beneficiary's.

Approved- Pending a new passport. You know...the one he washed? The I asked him to replace 4 months ago? Yeah that one.

Questions he was asked:

How did we meet?

Has he been to the US?

Have I been to Scotland?

How did he propose?

That was it.

He has an appointment in Glasgow this Friday to replace his passport while he is there and he has been assured that he should get the new passport, get it to London and back, before 10-1, so all looks good to go!

This is one of the situations where its almost not fun to be right, I guess. I'm still laughing though.

I know, I want to get really mad about it, but it won't do any good. Next time he doesn't listen to me though, I can say TWICE during immigration you didn't and look what happened!

At least from now on, you can be in charge of all the immigration stuff for the AOS. And maybe it's all a ploy to make you think he can't do the wash, but don't let him fool you!

LOL, he knows how to do laundry...I've seen it with my own eyes. I probably will do the laundry though...it's a small ocd issue from the ex who refused to take ink pens out of his work clothes. I would wash everything BUT his work clothes so if he broke the ink pens on them, he only ruined his own stuff!

I'm excited that we are under two weeks and getting close to single digits! Only 12 days!

Peter is on his way to London to spend the night at his nephew's flat. My stomach is in my throat right about now. I know I'm probably nowhere near as nervous as he is, but WHOA! Our future hangs in the balance of tomorrow. I don't foresee any reason for us to be denied, and I know London is a fairly easy embassy, but we usually have the WORST luck, so I'm really edgy today, hoping the luck we've had so far with this process holds out. My biggest fear is that we missed ONE tiny little thing, or he leaves a paper behind, or something minor and we get a 221(g) for it, and have to wait even longer. We rechecked all of the paperwork last night AND this morning before he walked out the door to head to London, so I don't think we've missed anything...

How did you all keep calm on the last day? I'm ready to FLIP OUT with nerves!!!

Just remember, even on the off chance he's forgotten something, he will be able to get it and send it in later. At least there is no major worries about a denial. I haven't seen anyone on the boards be denied in London, and although AP is always a possibility, it's rare as well. I've also seen others who have been 'round on the boards a lot longer than both you and I who have said that they haven't seen denials coming out of London either, unless it was for something major that required a waiver. Keep happy thoughts, remember how easy London is (comparatively) and let us know first thing once you find out!

Yeah, all those words about London being an easy consulate go RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW when the interview comes, don't they?!! I talked to Nik up to the last minute that I could that day, and sent him off to sleep early so he could be fresh in the morning, then I stayed late at work, got some of my favorite takeout, visited the library and sat at home listening to a book on tape to distract myself. I don't think I slept for more than an hour at at time that whole night! Kept checking for messages on the phone and computer!
