My fiancé is driving me nuts. I am the US Citizen and he is Moroccan. He received his packet about a week ago and we are just now going over it. I have been telling him forever that we need proof of our relationship and I will get stuff together and bring it when I come in a few weeks. He is saying the information sheet that he received says something to the effect, "Don’t bring more than what we requested." He swears up and down that there is nothing that says to bring proof and now he is concerned that if he brings the proof they won't let him in. OMG!! I pretty much told him, I didn't care what it said; we were going to bring proof. I told him about other couples from Morocco who have had their interview and they took proof. What did everyone’s letter say? How did you present your proof? I have ours in a 3 ring binder with labels to the different sections. Thoughts/ideas?

Thanks

He can bring the proof with him. Just let him know he won't be able to carry a bag inside so if possible just bring folders with the information in it. Also, cellphones are not allowed in the consulate

Do you think a 3 ring binder will be ok?

We have a relationship that goes back to 2003 and in the I-129F we presented photos and chats

that went back almost that far, going forward up to the time we filed (late August 2009).

Since we had not been together since April 2008, I made a point to spend a month with her

in October 2009, which was roughly 17 months since April 2008.

The interview was on November 24, 2009 and I put together snippets of chats & emails

covering the period between the time we filed and just before the interview, including

photos exclusively of our last meeting in October 2009. She had these at the interview

but were not asked for. I would have NOT wanted her to go in there without them if

something came up and the CO started acting like they were having doubts about

issuing the visa.

One applicant took a whole suitcase of evidence to the interview (they got the visa)

but that is most assuredly overkill. Not when most interviews last 5 minutes.

The reason they last 5 minutes is because they have spent a lot of time looking

over your evidence at their desk.

Her interview was 92 days from the day we filed, the 3rd quickest in the VJ database.

Thanks for you response! :D

Woohoo!! Congrats again on the quick approval. Someone else had told me to front load my petition, which I hadn't. I don't think anyways, I pretty much put what they had requested. I have a lot of proof.. or I fell I have a lot. Who knows!! I am going to give it to him to take!

I wouldn't suggest a binder because the window holes can be too small for it to fit through. I bought those small flimsy photo albums and each album had one year of pics and then a separate one for our engagement and wedding.

You submit even your proof through the window? I thought you only submitted your paperwork through the window and then took your proof into the actual interview. I bought some flimsy photo albums though and I also purchased an accordion style folder so he is able to get the information out quickly without trying to mess with the binder rings.

Hiya, my husband says that he shouldn't bring a bag in, but that it would be fine to have the binder. He probably won't hand the whole binder to the consular official at once, but that the CO might ask for evidence, and then your fiance can pull out of the binder what he wants to show.

I send my husband (then, fiance), some loose papers and a small photo album, the one dollar kind you can get at walgreens or wherever. That worked fine for him. He introduced the photos when the CO asked if he knew any of my friends and family. He said, yes, I do, and here are some photos. Then she asked him all about the photos. She also looked at our skype logs, but quickly. If he brought up something, like "we chat through skype", then she would say, "let me see it".

So I think the binder is a good idea if your fiance can use it to find the information he needs quickly. and it's good for him to mention things which are in the binder. Sort of a back up to what he's saying.

Good luck!!
