I just received my NOA2. How will I know when my petition reaches the NVC and then the embassy? Do I have to call them or will the USCIS let me know when I log in to their website?

I want to thank everyone in advance. I have been looking at this site for the past year trying to figure it all out and it has been so helpful. I finally decided to register today. So yeah, thank you!!!

I want to thank everyone in advance. I have been looking at this site for the past year trying to figure it all out and it has been so helpful. I finally decided to register today. So yeah, thank you!!!

If I remember correctly we called a 1-800 NVC # and they let me know when they received it and when they sent it to the embassy. I then emailed the embassy. Each embassy is different but in Nicaragua they worked great with email. Congrats and Good Luck...this part generally goes very quickly. :thumbs:

Give it about 10 days to arrive, then you can call NVC for status.

Call NVC @ 603 334-0700. They will ask for your USCIS receipt number to confirm if they have it. If they have it, make sure to obtain your NVC Case#. The case# is what is being used in the consulate to track visa applications.

Oh that's great! You noted your NVC case# right? Give it 2 months from now til the interview. If you look at the France member timelines, it should give you an idea how long they turn this around on an average. Start gathering docs while you're waiting. If you want to know what sort of docs they will require, let me know and I'll PM you the list that I got in my packet 3.
