Hi everyone,,

I have relatively new police clearance certificate (2 months old).

However I requested this certificate for banking purpose .. because the police in my home country usually write::

The purpose of this clearance is ::: Bla bla bla (e.g. banking)

Then they stamp the certificate : No past criminal history detected.

Can I still use this certificate for my immigration Visa?

Thanks,.

Does the embassy/consulate website not give an opinion? Normally, it should give some detail on what they want. The other option is the state dept website that lays out document sharing from each country.

The police clearance I got is standard for all purposes. So, yes it is the same police cleance that fulfills the requirements of U.S Embassy /NVC.

But it happend that I was back home few months ago and I requested a police clearance for banking purposes, so the police wrote on my certificate (Requested for : Banking purposes).

Would this be a problem? Because simply the police clearance says - no past convictions / no past criminal records ..etc irrespective of the reason it was requested for.

Otherwise I have to travel back home and request the SAME police clearance again but with one line different :: Requested for : U.S Embassy / instead of : Bank of xxx

Any idea?

Thanks everyone,

If you are in SA then visit US EMBASSY / CONSULATE and show them your approve petition then they will give you letter to obtain the new police certificate from police authorities .

Thank you !
