Dear all-

Do we need to have police clearance certificate from both the local police authority and the passport office for the interview.

I had sent only the police clearance certificate issued by the local Police Authority with the DS-230 package.

I haven't applied for the PCC from the passport office. Is it required?

Can you please share your experience?

Thanks

Martin

Hi Martin09,

Is your case CR-1 or IR-1?

Yes, you do need PCC from the passport office. It's also called Regional/Passport PCC.

When NVC processes your DS-230, they will create RFE requesting the Passport PCC. Just call NVC plus email them and tell them that you will submit it at the interview. There shouldn't be any problem.

Good luck

Martin09,

If the passport was issued within past 6 months then you need to get PCC from Local Passport Office.

If the Passport was issued more than 6 months then you need to get PCC from both Local Passport Office and The District Police Office serving the applicants place of residence.

Based on what i read on the forum if you have submitted one PCC then you will not get RFE but you will get an email to produce the other one at the time of Interview.

I submitted only one PCC issued from Passport office for both my parents and my Case is completed and waiting for the interview email. My parents have the other PCC ready which as issued by the local District Police too.......so get prepared with both of them.

Good Luck! Thanks, Raj

You will get thru nvc with one pcc, but be prepared with both at the interview. They most likely will ask for it. Its easier to get the pcc from passport office than it is to get from local district. Usually if you request it before noon it is ready same day if not the next the latest. Just have this ready for interview. Don't stress out too much. btw please fill in your timeline. Goodluck

Hi Raj456,

It's not Local Passport office. It is Regional Passport Office.

The District Police Office is called the Local Office.

You can obtain Regional/Passport PCC from the Passport Office.

You can obtain District/Local PCC from your Local Police Station/Office.
