Hi

Me and my husband attended interview at Chennai. We both were allowed at interview, asked few questions to me and more for my husband, as he is beneficiary. However Co has some concerns about the format of marriage certificate. We explained that this is the first time that any marriage was registered in this particular municipality, so they gave certificate in their format.

She said all is fine from our side and she need to verify format and send visa in a couple of days or in less than a week.

She kept Passport and no form is given to us after interview.

This is almost a week now and no passport is given to us. Very hard to get hold of Chennai embassy.

Any suggessions at this point? Do I need to talk to DOS?

Hi SGSG,

I'm surprised by this!!! :wacko::wow:

I suggest you go back to the embassy personally and ask them for your visa/passport. Also, write them an email explaining your situation. Did they give you anything at all, like something saying we are verifying your documents?

Good luck!

At the end 'she kept my husband's passport and gave NO FORMs. She said she will verify 'marriage certifcate' format and send visa in a couple of days/ less than a week.

We sent an email to embassy for status, got reply saying it is under review and we will let you know once review is complete.

From this it sounds like your husband was placed under Administrative Review. It could take a bit longer if that is the case.

If you emailed them few days ago, email them again. And if possible, go personally to the embassy.

I fail to understand if my husband goes to embassy personally, how and whom he can approach? Do they take enquiries?

i agree with chica. it sounds like administrative review, and there is no actual time limit. nothing can be done, including going to the embassy. if he wants his passport back, he can request it. when they are finish with the review, then they will issue his visa, if and only if they do not find him otherwise ineligible. from the looks of things, looks like everything is fine, and you just have to sit back and wait. good luck to you

Did you try this number? 044-42316767 It's VFS number. According to the Embassy site, this is where you call for inquiries after the interview.

There has to be information window at the Embassy. If they answer the above number, ask them if you can go in person and how.

This is the info. I got it from Chennai Ambassy. You probabely know about this but just wanted to post:

It does sound like Administrative Review. Call DOS and ask for the status. Dos will let you know. After you call the number, press one and then press 0...otherwise you will listen to messages for five minutes.

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........

IMO, to 'ask for the visa/passport, in person, is a bad thing, without having 'clearance' to do so.

Clearance usually in form of an email, or a letter, or a phone call.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
