This is random but I had my I-134 notarized yesterday and it went pretty badly. The lady was a complete flake. The letter she wrote had mispellings and I even had to show her that a verb was conjugated wrongly. and this is a national bank!! it was shameful really. needless to say she had to print the stuff out multiple times. and i was just so happy to finally get this stuff notarized that i realize now that she gave me a purple (at least it's dark) pen to sign my name in. the top of the form says write everything in black...should i just sign my name in black next to my purple signature? or can i assume that the embassy won't be that picky...

also...

i remember reading in various places that some people blacked out their SSN on statements, etc. but since our SSN is on our I-129f which they'll have a copy of...what's the point?

I have never seen the need for a notary to write a letter, so I dont understand your post. Notaries look at your identification, and stamp and sign in the preprinted space provided as to their commision, etc. after you sign the document in their presence.

What letter???

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

funny story though on notaries.. I went in to a translation office to have my fiances address translated from CHINESE to ENGLISH .. and when I got it back they stated on the notarization paper "I blah blah fully swear that the words in Taiwanese fully translate to english" While taiwanese and chinese is similar the writing of her address is COMPLETELY different.. pretty funny.

The notary I found to translate my fiance' letter of intent into English from Albanian completely messed the translation up. At the time, we thought "Letter of Intent" meant like... literally a letter, with several paragraphs (before I found VJ) and he wrote it in Albanian because we believed that he'd have his interview in Tirana. So, I found this notary through a friend and after 7 days waiting for her to translate a 3 paragraph paper, it comes back written exactly like this: "I meeting my fianc in August 2004 in Firenzr in Italy..." not only was it written that way (and btw I talked to this girl and she didn't have ANY accent when she was speaking with me), but she actually mistranslated VERY fundamental words and translated what my fiance' wrote "We met in OCTOBER 2004" to "we met in AUGUST 2004." I attached a note with the petition saying that the translator/notary made this error but that the rest is accurate, though poorly written. We didn't have any problem though.

LOL! She gave you a purple pen to sign with?? Did she also dot her i's with little hearts?

okay i'm going to try to explain myself better.

i went to my bank to get the bank statement....which is a letter written by a bank official stating my deposits, balance, etc.

this is the "letter" that I'm talking about.

than...

she notarized my I-134...because she is bank official and a notary.

LOL! She gave you a purple pen to sign with?? Did she also dot her i's with little hearts?

I know...it just goes to show that all you need is to fill out a form, pay a fee, go to city hall and voila you're a notary! (hehe I know this cuz I asked her!)

but in her defense, she was nice

These are not required to be notarized.

Some consulates (including London) require you to bring a 'bank letter' in support of your I 134. The letter is supposed to include the date your account(s) were opened, average balance and current balance (or something like that). I hadn't read where that needed to be notorized, but if the OP was getting another form notorized and the bank letter, perhaps the notary thought she had to notarize both?

Personally I think my bank will be a pain in the ####### about it, so I've been saving all my bank statements for the past year - which some consulates will take in place of the bank letter (London will, but some may not).

Hey I'm a Notary. Are you people Anti-Notarites? :P

All I had to do was sign a form, have it notarized by another notary, send in $10 and I was an official Notary. :D

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

Only the I-134 has to be notarized which she did. The bank statement she typed up because she happens to work at the bank where I have my account.

If you can I would take all my bank statements for the past year. My bank's computer system doesn't give them the option to see the amount of deposits made in the past year so luckily I had taken my statements and in front of her I added them all up. (well she wasn't really looking...lol)
