At work, in addition to doing a potluck, we did a cookie exchange. We all bought/made 2 dozen cookies and filled each other's Christmas tin with one of our own and then left the others on a plate to munch on the rest of the day. We all went home with a lovely assortment of home-baked goodness. It was fab. :)

I am home!! It's so beautiful up here in the Winter. I am looking out at Georgian Bay from my mom's and it's frozen and just so pretty.

Crossing the border wasn't too bad, she did ask me if any of one of my gifts were over 60.00 and I told her yes and told her how many and she didn't seem to mind. Didn't make me unwrap anything or pay any taxes. Phew!

Woohoo me and the hubby finally got home! (Translation: we finally braved going back to our house downtown and have left his parents' house). Our good neighbors have shoveled our front porch, but our street is still icy so we cant get our car through it. Funny thing is that last night the city truck that clears off the snow (there must be a better name for it :P) went through the street and got stuck... hehehehehe.

Anyway, I wanted to post pictures of our tree!

Hubby and I went to cut it last Sunday but couldnt put pics up because we went to his parents' house.

Soooo we werent planning to get a tree this year as we will be spending Christmas with the in-laws. But because we got a lot of ornaments on our wedding, we felt that we needed to get a tree to hang them. Ive never had cut Christmas trees before, so I wanted one, and finally convinced the husband to go that route. He of course met me with very high resistance but eventually caved and we went to the tree farm together.

Of course, my idea of cutting tree was to just go in, find the first tree, cut it, pay for it, and leave. My husband's included FINDING THE PERFECT TREE IN THE LOT even if it meant trekking through the knee-deep snow and freezing to death. So after an hour of looking for the best tree in the world (plus my feet and fingers freezing), we found ours!

here in VA, if you goto the rifle range, a drivers license gets you a gun,lol I wa sliek don't you at least want a credit card, nope, DL will do! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

reasonably priced. 1 has to have a membership, monthly it is $12. Wife and i went, for an hr, came to around $80.00. that included like 5 targets, 100 rounds of ammo, rifle and a hand gun, just .22 calibre, and rental of ear plugs and eye protection. Miss the days of target practice on the Farm, and off course my military days, good times,lol
