i got my visa on 28th sep, arrived in us 20th oct & still have not received gc/ssc yet .

I did not receive my green card until a month after POE so you should be receiving yours' soon. As far as the SS card, you may want to apply at the nearest Social Security office. I checked off the appropriate box on the DS-230 and still had to apply in person. My card arrived 6 days later. Good luck. :thumbs:

I had to do the same for my wife. I had checked the "automatic SSN apply" box but her SSN never came through. We applied again at our local office and received a SSN within a week.

2009-05-26 : Mailed DS-230 package and AOS package (first one never made it)

Hubby went to the SSA office and they had him in the system and requested a card... Should be here next week, but they gave him a printout with his SSN#

11-30-09: GOT GREEN CARD in mail!!!!!!

Citizenship Process;

1/11/2013: Mailed N400 to Dallas Texas

3/11/2013: interview.. Approved

4/4/2013. : Oath! Now a U.S. citizen!

I have the SSN when I was a student there with my old last name. I still requested for the new SSN and I hope the no. might be the same but the last name might change to my hubby last name..confusing???..

Anyway, still waiting for the interview...so excited about it and wish everything goes well..

Since you have a SSN you will keep the same number (you only get ONE number)... You just have to notify them once you arrive that you have changed status...
