i heard that usem/fpu is doing advanced dv/background check even before the interview so that when the applicant comes the co already knows about the applicant's info i.e. marriage, employment, nbi, etc. can anyone validate or share?

I am sure it is done.

In my opinion, Once you get scheduled for the actual interview, it's a done deal and most of all the background checks and paper verifications has been done long before actual interview date.

I'm sure the petitioner is investigated prior to interview or they would not have approved the 129F, I doubt they confirm employment other then looking at IRS records as current job may have changed after applying for visa as in my case. You go into the interview being already approved by USCIS and NVC. The final thumbs up or thumbs down comes from the Embassy.

thanks tallcoolone. do you think this is done for both the petitioner and the beneficiary all at the same time?

eddie - that's easy - cause the checks were not finished prior to interview day.

edp333 - yup - that also - but... if it's AP without any additional 'send us documents' requirement - usually the namechecks are not complete.

fwiw, I had been mentioning to the China Group for the beneficiary to actually ask this on interview day, after the interview is finished - 'Are the namechecks complete? will my visa be delayed for any reason? what's the reason? please take my cell #, call me with any news'.

The results were half and half - about half were told 'no delay' and the other 'yes, namechecks not finished'.

I find it ludicrious that a VO will NOT just say to the beneficiary (at least in GUZ ) - 'we can't issue a visa today, your namechecks are not finished'.

grrrr.

There is no longer document verification you have to pay for. At least in the Philippines.
