age doesn't matter, during the interview...

my husband was 64 and i am 21 now. PLUS i had a daughter from another man. he petitioned us both and got approved. it isn't the age its all about genuine relationship between you an her. But we had a lawyer at the time.

Ok my fiance is 18 turning 19 within a month.

I am currently filling forms out. And preparing them to be sent in.

Yes some may think im crazy cause of her age. I thought about it many times. *But I Love her & am Happy with her*

But honestly At the beginning Never imagined being with her.

But in time things grew into more & couldn't get her out of my mind.

She is a great person & honestly not looking for money Thank god.

But down to my question.

has anyone gone to the interview and know what they say about that age gap?

Specific tactical questions etc?

My fiance is very shy and that is about all that I worry about.

And what issues that may cross our paths.

Idea's Suggestions Greatly appreciated.

I did hire a lawyer for the papers as I have a few complicated issues. in my thoughts.

example Taking time to perfect paperwork. etc. a bit of money for help to get it processed and done is better then spending 6months on my own to make sure it's all perfect.

I was going to do it on my own. until i read a bit deeper...

Thank you.

you are still young at your age of 35. dont worry about the age gap...it is not a problem at all. just make sure that your fiance is ready on her interview with a complete documents. make a check list of all the requirements that will be needed at the interview. your fiance should know everything about you..it is very important for a genuine relationship.

regarding paperworks..it is very easy. just follow the guidelines. good luck. :)

17 years... age gap is not what I see problem maybe...

But the fact that she is 18 going 19.... I mean, that age seems crucial. Maybe if she is at least 21, would be strong enough to say that she's thinking right when she agreed to marry you.

They might accuse you cradle snatcher because she's still in teen age.

But then, love prevails....

Yeah, don't worry about your age gap. As long as your intentions are for real and you provide all the required proofs, you should be fine. You only have 17 years of age difference whereas me and my husband have 24 years and we didn't even encounter any problems at all with regards to that issue until after I got here in the US and some women looked at me as if I'm a hooker or something :D. BUt whatever, it's their problem :P . But, yeah, don't worry, be happy :D . Everything will be fine and good luck!

We encourage all members to seek a qualified immigration attorney as this site is no substitute for the valuable help and advice a good attorney can provide!

I'd like to see the link to the above. The site allows lawyers to advertise here and sometimes one is necessary

in cases where there are serious "borderline" issues where fraud may be alleged or the case is too complicated.

I don't see either in the OP's case. Mostly lawyers just wear nice ties and are good at hand-holding.

The real work is done by the law clerks. Oh yes, they make mistakes too.

Here's what a lawyer will get you

when we did our K-1, we were so clueless at first, we ddn't know anyone who did something like this, plus we were far too focused on each other and being away from each other lol

i found this site but i ddnt know how to use it back and we hired an immigration specialist(he's married to a filipina too)..

I found out that immigration lawyers actually hired him to do their job..

but honestly, just as long as the situation isn't so complicated, no overstay of former visas or any other legal issues, i think it's best to do it yourself with the visajourney family :) it could really save you lots of $$$$

i have no problem spending 600 just to give me peaceful feeling of doing it properly.

even 1000

to make sure i have enough information and to have someone look over everything.

takes a few months fine. but its better then being clueless & confused and taking 6months longer to file.

also her being such a young age she has strong feelings & has had for long time.

the hardest part is going to be when she gets here.

because of how young she looks.

americans will instantly think cradle robber & probably call the cops on me saying im with a child.

because she looks about 14 which scared me at first when i met her.

as since then I have learned more of not to care what others think or say. and gained more confidence in it.

just browsing other posts in other topics on this site just makes me so crazy and thinks of giving up.

Y'know there's a big hill not too far from here. Mt. McKinley. So I had never climbed a hill like that before and hired a guy to train me and stuff, did a bunch of little ones and then when we got there it was hundred mile an hour winds, thirty below zero and two thousand foot pitches or whatever you call them. I'm just a hillbilly with equipment and clothes I made myself because I am poor and can't afford what the French and German teams all had. They laughed ad me.

Anyway they helicoptered some dead Scottisch climbers out right in front of us at 14,200 ft before the next pitch. And then some guys got blown off the mountain at 17,300. Funny because the local guys are the ones that rescued Genet Expedition climbers. Me and two buddies. It's in a Reader's Digest story. I think december '91. Happened in '89.

So anyway I am reading this above. About giving up. And I'm thinking wow, if you don't want to crawl across broken glass. Run through buildings on fire. Take on the 40-foot troll with a club for your lady...

I'd take on a lot just to climb a hill.

But wow, to get my girl here. That's pretty serious. My whole life, actually.

So I think we just buck up here young man.

Don't listen to discouragement about a lawyer if that makes you comfortable. Good on you.

LoL at first when i read that I was confused but i get your drift.

The part of making me want to give up on all the petition stuff is how i read everyones posts in these forums under different catagories. making me more confused.

someone referred me to another forum to help and i found some of my questions properly and nicely answered there.

and many suggestions.

eased lots of my thoughts.

I will be going thru these people to give them a shot to help me fill out my papers as it helps ease me a bit. just got off the phone with them and finalized everything.

i had some lame questions also.

but they were beneficial for me.

Giving up on her i wouldn't do.

Get Carried away Of Course. who doesn't

i was to the point to beg my grandfather to move with me to PI so i could be with her.

but some posts here has helped me and many at the other site.

and so has the talking with the place i will go with.

currently gathering as much of stubs as possible & all those necessities. to send them a copy for them to prepare a sample start for us. then finalize it and mail it off.

1 of my biggest issues is I have basically been unemployed for 5yrs

Mom died of cancer couple years back then grandmother died. So gathering my own proof of income is near impossible.

my stupidity of not trying to make sure my social security is paid yearly for measly small jobs. but 24% of what i earn would not even allow me to make a car payment. and how to state how i earned money to survive while taking care of my dieing mother? that stuff makes everything a bit more confusing and harder.

I am 32 years older than Claudeth and we have never had a problem concerning age. Heck, we blew right through the visa process in less than 4 months, AOS without an interview and lifting conditions without an interview. The important thing is showing you have a loving, ongoing relationship.

Good luck

Age gap isn't the problem. Problem is she's only 18 [yeah 19 soon]. To young! Still playing with Barbie dolls. Are you ready for a "hot blooded pinay" that's want's babies?

agreed that a young woman is still learning what is available to her. better to let her be dissapointed in a few guys before she finds you. my wife was 23 when we met, and i was 41. she had seen enuf of the world to know that i was a good deal.

be prepared to help her grow into a new life in America. if you drop the ball, someone else will pick it up. keep her talking, whatever the cost. when she stops talking you have no idea what she's thinking.

very true on the bringing of negative thoughts & stuff that could harm depending upon whom reads it.

atleast I know I am positive of how I feel and what I wish.

as I am positive of her side of things also.

Been trying to figure proper words for everything and starting to prepare all papers to get taken care of as i reply.

i'm honest to how i feel and what i say. sometimes word things improper but im sure everyone will and would understand.

gets frustrated is common part of life.

but i am happy to see some positive posts instead of more negative towards it.

And am happy that this thread has attracted many to read & learn.

When you know what you want it gets much harder to keep a clear head when there is obstacles.

But you will overcome all those obstacles with enough time and patience. & of course being calm and rational. & Sometimes it takes others to help point it out to you.
