Hi all! I filed the I129F in September and received my NOA 1 with the receipt date of 09-22-09 I'm still waiting for the NOA 2 and am getting worried. I filed through the California Service Center. How long should I expect to wait and when should I start to worry?

what is "Touched" ? I see it on some people's status updates.

thanks!

From your VJ timeline:

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between December 7, 2009 and December 18, 2009*.

YMMV

People will say their file was touched when they go to the USCIS website and see the "last update" date has changed. It means the file was physically touched, but there is no saying what it really means for the process. It could have just been moved from one desk to another. Someone just waved a wand over the barcode.

Some cases get approved without ever showing a touch. So dont worry if you never see one.

You can check on Igor's list, under Immigration Timelines at the top of the VJ page, to see everyone's progress (or lack thereof). As you can see, nobody from September has been approved yet at CSC (except for an expedited case).

The USCIS projected 5 month wait period for my case to be adjudicated. I was approved in 3 months. There is a waxing and waning with how the USCIS adjudicates petitions and no real science on how or why some cases get adjudicated before others . Do not worry until you pass the estimated time given by the USCIS because there is nothing you can really do (unless you are active military ready to be deployed to a forward position) until you pass the time given by USCIS.

Start getting familiar with the forms the embassy requests for the interview. Practice filling them out. You can usually find the forms on the embassy website that your dealing with.

Hang in there, you're not alone with having to wait, it is tough but your time will come.

Is the 5 month estimate for the k-1 Petition approval or for the whole process including the interview?

The USCIS projected 5-month wait period is just for the petition approval.
