We set the date!!!!

So I haven't been on for a few months due to work basically exploding and barely having a moment to myself but...

....me and my boy set the date!! We're getting hitched on November 27th 2010 :D at a lovely hotel in Clearwater. I haven't actually seen the place yet!! (and normally I'm a total control freak, so I must be getting more relaxed ;)) but my other half tells me it's lovely, the photos look amazing, the wedding coordinator is fab and they have a massively relaxed postponement policy - perfect for our visa trials and tribulations :)

We're filing for my K-1 on Monday too, so suddenly after a year and a half of just waiting and seeing things seem to be moving very fast!

I'm sooooo excited!! Rather terrified, too...but excited all at the same time :)

Just had to tell someone....I can't tell anyone at work cos they don't know I'm buggering off yet, so I feel like I could burst!!

YAY!!! I remember being this excited when we were just setting the date for our wedding too! Sounds like you'll have plenty of time to navigate speed bumps etc.

For me, the hardest part was waiting between the June 9th visa receipt and his October 2nd entry into the US, because he wanted to keep working right up to the wedding which we'd set on Oct 11th. But I felt good on the other hand because we didn't have to stress about the visa any more as the wedding plans became a bigger burden towards the end.

Congratulations...

Someone headed the same (southerly direction) as me. Am going for the Orlando area, but know Clearwater well.

We have the wedding tentatively planned for July 24th, and like you i'm excited but nervous. All the stuff about getting married and it 'tying you down' isn't even having an effect. I would just like it over with. :)

PS - you weren't a 'CP' were you?

Yay, congrats!

I agree with Nik/Heather, the hardest part for me (apart from the 5 month NOA2 wait where no one knows anything but everyone wants to know everything) was the wait between the visa approval and the US entry. Because then everyone knows for a FACT that you're leaving (even though you might have told them many times before) and all the emotions come out... sadness, happiness, worry, excitement.. and of course all of the packing and preparations!! And the sheer anticipation of knowing you have that visa in your passport but you can't just hop on a plane until you've sorted stuff out. Those last few days... wow.

But don't worry about that yet, you have plenty of time. :D If I could do all of this again, I probably would have prepared more before my interview, as I didn't realise how stressful it would be. Good luck!

I'll also be based in Orlando, but Clearwater holds some fond memories for my fiancé plus it is simply beautiful, so I'm stoked.

And yes, I was a CP!! Summer 2006 then October 2007 - April 2008...the only reason I didn't go back again is cos the only thing I was elgible for was working for a year at EPCOT and by that time I was 24 and decided I probably ought to go and get a proper job, even if my then-boyfriend-now-fiance was far away across the sea ;)

Yeah I think I'm worrying prematurely about all the emotional impact, in particular leaving my best friend and my mum who I'm extremely close to. But ultimately the realisation came that no matter how much time I gave it to wait and see if me & the boy were 'right' before taking the plunge, the only way I was ever gonna find out was to bite the bullet and just do it. I'm very cautious so it doesn't come naturally......but I'm getting quite a rush out of it right now :D
