Thanks, everyone. Knowing I am not being unreasonable really helps. I was starting to feel like I was in the wrong.

Definitely not!

If she continues, I strongly suggest rolling up a newspaper and swatting her on the nose when she calls. Repeat "NO" loudly.

... :innocent:

LMAO She may not be receptive to that. She is starting to be unhappy by how much the kids like me. Hey, when we have them, I do stuff with them - play cards, bake, whatever, but pay attention to them. They respond to that.

That's like the worst advice ever, there should be a prize for that

Yeah, daily calls are excessive, I wouldn't like that.

EXACTLY. It is a terrible advice and one that is tricky to actually to accomplish, but when people annoy you, you just have to annoy them back. TIMES TWO. ;) When the WIL ignores me and treats me poorly during family parties, I go right up to her full of cheerfulness and excessive happiness and talk to her all night long.

Well that I can see might work :hehe: (only thing is if you have to do it more than once, it's not working  )

The thing is with the call about the children thing - it's just dangerous territory - Mothers are very protective of their children - as you know - hell hath no fury like a Mother looking out for her children - it could backfire somehow.

Yea... I'm thinking about it from my perspective as a mother. I have never been in your situation per say, but I could imagine its very difficult to have another mother figure there watching over her children. It's all a transition everyone has to get used to. Perhaps you guys can try to do family events all together? Maybe you can even get to know their mother as well, show her you are no threat and in no way there to take her place. There's just ways to deal with that situation, like tmix said, it is dangerous territory.

I'm so irritated that I didn't read the SSN instructions good enough.

We went to the office today and I needed my long form birth certificate. Egh.

At least I know they know how to process that for K-1 and that I'm the system.

Someone tried to scam me on Ebay today!!!

I had purchased the P90x workout program about a week ago from a "reputable looking" seller. (He had 100% positive feedback with 490 or so sales.) Anywho, a day or so after I purchased and paid for it through paypal, Ebay sent me an email telling me that they had removed the listing and that the item was no longer available. (What the heck...I already bought it, how is it not available suddenly?) They don't tell you why, because I called them demanding an explanation.

Next I called Paypal, and asked them what I should do. They told me to contact the seller to see if he would still ship. I emailed the seller, and he responded that he wasn't sure why ebay would remove the listing, but that yes, he was still going to ship.

Fast forward 3 days...I'm sitting tight waiting for this thing to come in the mail because it's supposed to be a Christmas present for hubby and I, when low and behold, the seller contacts me again. This time he tells me that because of ebay unlisting the item, it had screwed up their inventory, and now they didn't have any left, so he was refunding my money. At this point, he had been very forthright and honest with me, so I'm still just glad that he's being upfront and returning my money without causing problems.

Now...fast forward again to today...the seller emails me again (I'm starting to feel at this point like I'm having a rather odd relationship with this person,) and informs me that they have new stock in, and that he would be able to knock $15 off the price, and ship it with overnight delivery for the inconvenience if I payed the amount to his email address on Paypal. This just seemed to good to be true, so despite his friendly, very helpful disposition earlier, I contacted Paypal to see if I would still be covered with Buyer's Protection if I payed directly to his email, instead of through my bank account with ebay.

I'm glad I phoned Paypal first, because it turns out this is a common method for scammers to get you to let go of your guard (and your Buyer's Protection,) then take your money. If I had payed him, Paypal wouldn't have protected the purchase and the only way I would have been able to get my money back (possibly) would be through the credit card company, and I'm sure we all know what a PITA that is.

So, here I am now...8 days from Christmas with still no P90x wrapped under the tree. I'm a little pi$$ed off, but at the same time just glad some jerk didn't make off with my Christmas present money.

It's amazing what people will do to try to swindle you out of your hard earned cash these days :ranting:

Yes and in fact it probably isn't even his account (hence the 100% rating). My ebay account was hacked once and they bid on tons of cell phones.

My paypal account was hacked by some jerkoff in San Fran earlier in the year. Unfortunately for him, it was linked to a closed Bank of America account.

They set up a bunch of phony transactions with different a/c and gave themselves a good rating. That is why I'd never buy from someone with 100% rating.. always make sure that they have at least 2-3 negative ratings (like item took too long to receive) in the past 6 months.
