I lived in condos back in Victoria that restricted BBQ's. Same here at our condo, no BBQ's! 1st floor can have them, but have to use them like 10 feet away from the building.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

IMO fireworks laws are for kids. It's one law I refuse to obey, and have never had any issues when breaking.

I LOOOOOOVE fireworks, and I'm not talking pansy stuff either. Only problem is how far away you have to drive to get the stuff, and how much money I drop in a good fireworks store! (Seriously, you don't want to know what my bill was last time I went!)

Hoping to get some good stuff for the first/fourth of July this year! =D

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

I am, especially since I missed our March meeting because we were out of town attending a conference (at what was mostly our own expense). I'm the only paid member of staff ("Executive Director" lulz), but I don't have the ability to do...well, pretty much anything without the board's consent. I work 12 hour days M-F (I couldn't afford to work just the non-profit, doesn't pay enough), work 4 hours one saturday a month (elementary school day), and usually a full day at least one other saturday a month (community service event, open house, cleaning day, etc). I have to go to community organizations, churches, civic clubs, etc. to BEG for food/volunteers/donations, I'd say on at least a bi-weekly basis. I usually only have one or two other volunteers (for watching 30-60 teens), and none of our board members volunteer on a regular basis. A lot of time I feel like I'm the only one putting any effort into this thing (other than my beloved husband, of course) and it wears me down and frustrates the living ####### out of me.

Thanks, VJ, for giving me a place to vent biggrin.gif

You should move to Canada. tongue_ss.gif

Seriously, though.... I find that pretty disgusting. My SIL was a special needs teacher (now she's ESL) and I was horrified at the lack of funding and support.

Lol! Oh no! don't choke lgg! sad.gif

If you die I'll call for helpsmilie.gif

But don't worry I know the heimlich... see: headbonk.gif

People who let their dogs bark and bark and bark and bark. I love dogs, i hope to have one one day but what I have never understood is people who toss the dog out into the back yard or the porch and let the dog bark its head off all day or whatever. Do they not realize what noise pollution that is? I can't imagine letting my dog do that, I'd be horrified at disturbing the neighbors or whatnot.

Must just be me. I can't wait until we get a house that's even further in the country so I don't have to hear the results of other people's lace of respect and courtesy...

The best I can figure is, some people feel like this is normal.

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

Lgg -- oh gosh I cannot agree more. We had a new couple/family move in the townhome a few doors from us and they have 2 little dogs and they are yappers. They just bark all day long. And because of their barking, another couple's dog also barks. So its like a barking concert!!! Good thing we are a bit far away that we can't really hear much... but everytime we walk to the car or we have the windows down while making food, its like BARKBARKBARKBARKBARKBARKBARKBARK.

Finally married... and still married... ;)

ya i dont get that.

i have two dogs. my saluki lex got into the habit of barking. it's like hes afraid of stuff all of a sudden..he's 3. i always give him heck for it. barking all day long for no reason drives me up the wall. if he wont listen i bring him back in the house.

my old place in windsor, the guy next door had two dogs.. a shepherd and a hound..OMG 5am the noise all day long. have you ever heard the baying of a hound? for HOURS? then add on the neighbors two chihuahas (sp?) and him yelling shut up all day. OY!

We have a chihuahua and a terrier. They are pretty yappy in certain situations, like when I get home from work, or when they can hear people coming up the stairs or talking outside. They certainly don't yap all day long, but there is only so much we can cut out. They are overly exciteable dogs

I have a papillon, I can relate.

I am so afraid of our move because when she gets stressed out she barks non stop... it took her a month to get used to this place. We're going to have to take time off to get her used to the new place. Her bark is sonic. :(

In my experience, the worst barkers are pomeranians and yorkies. That would almost be a deal breaker if I were moving into somewhere new and the neighbors had one.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE dogs, I really do. Like a lot and I understand that yes, dogs bark -- it's what they do... I just don't understand the dog owner that just lets the dog barkbarkbarkbarkbark super early in the morning or late at night. I am sure when I have a dog, it's going to bark and I'll be happy to have neighbors that don't freak out over it, but I wont' let it just stand there and bark and bark because my wittle fwuffy bunny baby's sooooooooooooo cute! :D

I am one of those people that think, "k, I live in the midst of others, i can't just run around naked with Celine Dion blaring off the porch while my dog barks its nuts off in the front yard. Cuz people might not dig that, ya know?

:D

It's a horrible image, I admit and I don't even like Celine but you get my point. ;)

But you guys get that and yes your dogs bark but it's not like you don't care about it -- that's the dif. Some people have no concept of basic courtesy. YOu guys do. natch. :)

I, as an American, get blamed for the actions of my nation, so whenever Celine Dion or Justin Bieber come on the radio or t.v., i just point at my wife and say "This is your fault"
