If you can believe it (if you haven't heard), Sesame Street is 40 years old today. I loved that show. I love even more that the DVD releases from earlier seasons say something along the lines of: not suitable for today's children... hahaha

It's really really hard for me to pick a favourite Sesame Street clip. I have SO many. Grover, Kermit, and Ernie were my top 3 fave characters (though Cookie Monster of course was awesome, as was Oscar, and Mr Hooper (!!! ) and oh god, so many). I didn't like Big Bird actually.

Anyways....

here's one to kick us off. I love this one, but it makes me want to cry for some reason. lol

My favorite of all time :lol: They did a version of it on Sesame Street too, but the only video I can find is the one from the Muppet Show. I also loved this one

When I was young I wanted to marry him. There was a Sesame Street sketch where he was on a boat and talking to some character named Amanda telling her she is awesome that that he loves her. I used to pretend he was talking to me and talk back! :lol:

Happy 40th Birthday Sesame Street!...... :pop::star:

Wow, I can't believe this classic children's show has been on televison for so long!

I remember watching that show as a kid (and as an adult, I confess), and I love/loved it!

I even remember watching Canadian Sesame Street/Sesame Park as well!

Une..deux..trois...!

Gotta love louie the french Canadian otter, bazil the polar bear, and jodie the pilot...our Canadian Sesame Street pals too!

Sigh, no other children's show can compare to sesame street!...

Whatever happened to educational quality in other tv show for children, I wonder....hmm....

Lol...now it's my son's turn to watch Sesame Street...(I'll get him started early at 3 months....lol...)

I love, love, love, love, LOVE Sesame Street...

I have been trying for so long to find a clip of one of my faves, the clip where the Carousel Horses turn into real horses running through the water -- I remember as a kid thinking the music was beautiful.

That and Everybody Sleeps and every thing with Grover. I love that show. Still do, even as an adult.

Love the Muppets too...

I love SS.

I don't know if any of you noticed Google over the last couple of days but they picked different characters to honour.

Elmo is by far my favorite. I have loved him for years and years.

I had one of the most amazing things happen last week. Friends and I went to see Ricky Gervais at Carnegie Hall and he brought out Elmo as part of his encore. It was beyond awesome.
