Approved! :D

The lady said we were one of the most organized she'd seen.

Whole process was about an hour start to finish, excluding the time we waited from 6 AM (which was totally unnecessary as the next couple only got there at like 7:30). We felt a bit sorry for them as they said they were using a lawyer for their K-1 and were all organized and such, but he / she had apparently failed to mention that they needed to get their police certificates. :o

We didn't see Liz25 there, but she might have arrived later. Good luck to her if she has the interview today :)

It kinda seemed like everyone who wasn't us who was near us in line didn't really know what the heck they were doing. I felt really bad for the couple w/o police reports (they were at the computer retyping some forms when we got called for the interview), since they had seemed so confident before we went in. Another guy in line was trying to apply for a visa without his passport - - - I'm not even sure how that would be possible. The interview itself took maaaaybe 5 minutes, and that's because Spoom asked some questions after the visa was granted.

Montreal consulate REALLY needs one of those warming lamps outside, like the clubs have. Would've been nice on this chilly morning!

Thanks to everyone on here who helped us and answered questions - we were totally ready :D

Oh, as a side note....the people at Montreal seem to really have been stung by our criticism. The lady who did our paperwork mentioned some not-so-nice things that were said on here, and that their feelings were hurt. So, if you mention you're from here, be SUPER nice to them :)

Congrats you guys! That is amazing!

On another note, however, They've been stung??? If I may say, Poor them! Really? They're hurt by how frustrated we are with waiting for months and months with no reason given for our interview? I call B.S. on that one. I don't plan on saying a single thing about all that to them, I will be nice and deferential and stuff but hearing that they've been 'stung' by our very valid frustration is a crock of shvt to me. Call a freaking Wahmublance then...

Not aiming all that at you ScooterMac but how dare the consulate be 'stung'. We're here waiting yet another month for an interview, us CR1s, some us from June and July -- on this site, they only scheduled a couple of interviews for December. How can they expect that we're going to sit here waiting endlessly when Obama said that immigration is to reunite families. When a ton of other consulates are pushing CR1 interviews at a rate of a few hundred a month. Brother...

They're stung? I'm freaking stung...

Geezus...

Oh, as a side note....the people at Montreal seem to really have been stung by our criticism. The lady who did our paperwork mentioned some not-so-nice things that were said on here, and that their feelings were hurt. So, if you mention you're from here, be SUPER nice to them :)

lgg, the "stung" wording was mine, not theirs...and that observation was mostly based on the fact that the lady even mentioned it while we were talking. I'm not trying to downplay the wait times or the frustration, just sayin the employees are humans too.

I think some of the things that got them weren't people's frustration with weight times, but rather the anger from people who don't follow directions or come prepared for the interview process and lash out at them because the documentation wasn't correct. I'm sure there have been some not-so-nice confrontations on-site, and I've read some nasty reviews on here blaming consulate workers for things that weren't necessarily their fault.

Sorry if I offended you.

Ultimately, I guess the target of any frustration and anger etc. should be on a level above the consulate itself. I'm sure most of the consular officers are doing their best to push things through to the best of their abilities...but aspects of the system are preventing them from doing so as quickly as we'd / they'd like. I bet if you were to ask them if THEY are frustrated that they're the only consulate in Canada authorized to do CR-1 / IR-1 visas, they would have unequivocal answers! I think that's the most baffling part of all of this: there's one CR-1 / IR-1 consulate in a geographically massive country with 33 million people...

That's where polite, objective letters to the higher levels of government offices are so important. It just indicates that there's a problem with the system. Perhaps I'm naive, but I still believe that a polite, well-written letter from several people can make a difference.

OH NO!!!

You misunderstand, you did NOT offend me... no, no, no... the very notion that they would even say anything got me filed up. I'm speaking as someone who is prepared and has done the paperwork and will arrive fully armed and ready to go and if it that were NOT the case, I would be fine with the denial, reprimand and egg on my face... as it were. And it's not directed at a "human" specific emotion or one person, I realize that they are people doing a job -- my frustration is aimed at the consulate in general and their poor dealing and processes regarding immigration.

No, no, no... you did NOT offend me at all, that's silly.

:)
