does NVC accept laminated copies?

Yes but you CAN get notorized copies and that is good. Right? that would certify as it is a true copy.

People confuse notarized and certified copies all the time. US "notaries" cannot certify that a document being copied is genuine, only that they copy is a true copy of whatever. Primarily they witness signatures. A "certified copy" is a photocopy made by a government agency and stamped with a seal certifying it is a copy of the original document on file.

An exception is "Notarial Offices" (Gong Zheng Chu) in China are notably different agencies with different authority. The "certified copies" of birth certificates and other translated official documents from China are typically "Notarial Translations" obtained from the "Notarial Office".

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

yeah so basically it would have to be copied at city hall and then stamped or sealed there. I will just have my wife get more NSO copies so there is no question and then have her make photocopies like the DOS site states. It's not that much...just a little pain, but at least she can order it when she goes out for shopping. At least she dont live in a remote province. I am pretty sure we have some time to get these documents. I just sent the petition off last week...so we still have awhile to go yet. I hope to get a case number soon so i can call the military line to hopefully get a priority put on it since i am deployed right now.

Removal of conditions Journey

16 March 2012 Sent I-751 package from Aviano AB, Italy.

29 March 2012 Received everything back...wrong fee. thought we didn't have to pay biometrics since we were sending fingerprint cards and passport photos.

30 March 2012 Sent everything out again from Aviano AB, Italy.

10 April 2012 Check cashed

17 April 2012 Received NOA1 dated 6 April.

06 Dec 2012 Received 10 yr green card. Letter said it was approved 28 November 2012.

I sent a Laminated copies of birth cert and NVC accepted it and now my case is complete. I sent both Eng and local language birth cert. both laminated.

thanks, I will try with the laminated original. Hopefully NVC will consider it.

If it is laminated dont send it. Get another certified copy and send.

I am from India, and my wife is from fiji.

Her Birth certi and our marriage certi are laminated. Should I be worried ? Since getting a copy will take time now.

Is your marriage certificate/license is from USA ?

How about birth certificate ? (if us citizen spouse is born in usa)

07-19-2021 - received message from NVC about case can not be processed unless all civil documents are submitted (was missing police clearance)

08-12-2021 - submitted police clearance certificate - which was last document submitted to NVC

11-05-2021 - Case completed at NVC - DQ

03-31-2022 - Interview letter received

04-28-2022 - Interview date at mumbai embassy

My wife's BC and our marriage cert is also laminated... We will try our luck and send it in as is... In the meanwhile, we will inquire about how to get new copies of it JUST IN CASE! crossing my fingers and toes! unsure.gif

keep me updated if they will accept them...i just recieved the marriage certificate and birth certificate from my wife and they are both laminated.hope they will accept them
