I'd like to know the answer to this as well.

As would I. If my fiance does have to get a notarized letter of intent, he only has a few days to do it. I've searched and searched and still haven't found a clear answer to this question.

Unless the rules have changed since my fiance went for his interview on Oct 28 2009, they did not require the intent letter to be notarized. I know that you want to be really prepared but to be honest, they did not ask to see the intent letter at his interview. I prepared a binder to take with him with all the required papers which included an updated intent letter from myself. The first intent letter was dated April 2009.

Thank you SO much for sharing your experience. I too prepared a binder for my fiance and updated my intent letter and notarized it. I'll just have him update his intent letter and take it with him in case they want it. Thank you again, this really eases our frustrations!

Well, this is not valid because the person's NOA2 date was in August and their interview was in October, so it wasn't past the NOA2 4 month expiration date, which is only when the letter of intent notarization comes into play...

Oh right. Thanks for pointing that out. Well, my fiance and I don't really have a choice now, he's just going to have to go down to the interview without his letter of intent being notarized and hope for the best. If they tell him he needs to do that before they issue him a visa, it won't take long for him to do so. My letter IS notarized, so hopefully that will work in our favor. His interview is on Thursday, so I'll be sure to let you know what happens, Justine+David.

we have our k1 interview in the morning (8am).

just to be sure we got the UKC's letter of intent notarized at the last minute today as we started freaking out about it yesterday.

it was at a solicitors office, although he wasn't 100% sure that the US embassy would accept it. because he said usually he would send them away and have a certificate attached to the letter (but this takes a week). what he did do was write on the letter saying he witnessed it being signed and stamped it with the solicitors stamp which says public notary and also a big brown imposed seal. hopefully this will be ok?... if its asked for.

I would think that would be perfectly fine! That's more than a public notary does in the states! Good luck at your interview and be sure to post to this thread after you're done and let us know the result..and if you don't mind, let us know how the whole UKC letter of intent went!
