Airport taxes, or fees in U.S domestic flights

Good day!

I will be traveling to the US (Texas as my final destination) on 12th. I have 2 separate tickets.

1st ticket-- is Manila to Los Angeles (direct flight) via PAL in which I have purchased from a travel agency.

I am well aware that I already paid my Phil travel tax together with my ticket that I purchased from a travel agency here in the Phils, only the terminal fee left to be paid at the airport.

2nd ticket--is from Los Angeles to Houston in which my husband purchased from www.expedia.com

My question is, is there any terminal fees , or do I need to pay any travel taxes or terminal fees too at in LAX airport before I board for the plane for Houston?

Any feedbacks is highly appreciated. Thank you!

All related airport/terminal/security/etc fees should be listed on the E-ticket (so you should not have to pay anything more).

There's no extra charges when you try to walk to your gate to get on your flight in the US like there is in Phil. You will never see a Terminal Fee booth in the US.

Like was mentioned above everything would be included in your e-ticket. The only extra charges I can think of is that some airlines will charge you a baggage fee if you have many bags at check in. You can get info about any baggage fee from your US airline or on your e-ticket.

happy flying :)

Most domestic flights here now charge for checked bags. It's usually $20 for the first and $30 for the second...so $50 extra you can probably count on having to pay :(

If you can show evidence that LAX was NOT your final destination and that Houston is in fact your final destination, you should be able to avoid any baggage check fees.

You will need to collect your baggage at LAX after you pass through emigrations. And exit the International Airport. Head down the street about a block to the Departure gates for Domestic flights and recheck your baggage. Do not use the machine services to check you baggage. Speak to an actual person.

Show your ticket stubs for the PAL flight and that you just arrived and need to connect to your Houston flight.

With luck the ticket agent will pass you on with no problems...

If they insist on weighting your bags be very sure they are not over weight. I was caught with a bag that was about 10 pounds over and they wanted to charge me $120 bucks for the bag. If this happens, pull some items from the bag and carry them on. There is no weight checking for carry on bags...

I was told by the ticket agent to just grab a pair of blue jeans from the over weight bag and carry them on as that would most likely drop the weight of the bag to below the weight limit.

I was able to adjust the weight over to a lighter bag and evened the weight between the 2.

Good luck and Welcome to America!!!

So, "most".

I only have 1 shoulderbag, 1 handcarry (big shoulder bag) and a luggage. I'm wondering if they will also charged my handcarry bag.. :innocent: its quite big of a shoulder bag.

Thanks Phil for that very informative one.

thank you guys for your inputs.

I have called Continental Air and asked about how this thing would go, and they told me I need to pay $20 for my checked in luggage at the airport, and if I checked it in online, its $18. Not bad.

I'll pay it at the airport.

Godspeed everyone! :)

Its prolly , because you had single ticket for the whole flight, (departure-arrival). In my case, I have 2 separate tixs, purchased in 2 different provider, for 2 different (departure and arrival).

so regular fees apply for me for my 2nd trip ( LAX- IAH). :)

I flew US Air/Continental on my return in August from LAX to Wichita. It was $20 for the first checked bag and $30 for the second. They don't check carryon on domestic flights here, but PAL is tough on their weight limits. My bags were fine for China Air's guidelines (7kg carryon and 23kg each for 2 checked bags), but that was heavier than the PAL allowance, so I got charged P650 when I boarded in Tacloban :( And definitely DO NOT show up to a domestic US flight with overweight bags like mentioned above...they will gouge you like crazy for them!! A gentleman I was flying with chose to throw away some items from his bag because it was cheaper to replace them (they wouldn't fit in his carryon).

I just realized that Tom Bradley International Airport is quite (???) far from LAX 's terminal 6 -- from where I need to board for Houston... (pls refer to the picture I have attached)

to peeps who experienced the same thing who arrived at Tom Bradley int'l then needs to go to a LAX certain terminal,

Did you guys walked or took a cab? Any suggestions?

I just fee that its quite far to walk with all the baggage and stuffs.

I also have a question: How would I know if I still have to pay the Phil. travel tax or not? My fiance was the one who purchased my ticket online?
