don't use time for dentist or doctor appointments, vacations I can pretty much take them when I want..... I get 4 weeks, 3 days vacation every year, 21 sick days that I can carry over and 5 personal days plus we have 13 paid holidays. That's a lot of vacations........

Dayum!!!! Wow!! I get 31 PTOS (sick, vacation and personal all in one)! It sucks but I try not to argue, because I do get other perks and I have a great salary, but I would trade a lil cash for some more time off!

Wow I thought I had it good until now. I only get 15 sick days 2 personal oh but I got 3 months off but I usualy try to work then to make money that I owe.. Amazing and wonderful Darlene u go..

I was so focused on getting him here - that I forgot to focus on what to do when he got here. Now he's stuck in the house. In NC they won't give you a drivers license without a SSN and proof of residency. I think you can swear out a sworn affidavit of the residency part, but can you get a SSN with a K1 visa?

We went to an amazing Jazz concert this weekend. Or at least it would have been amazing if we didn't have a huge fight on the first evening. He actually called his family and send him money because he wanted to go home to his own yard. :crying: He hates that he has to rely on me for everything. He hates that I have an opinion on the clothes he buys because since I'm paying, it seems like he has to follow my opinion. (not true - but this is how he feels). He said at home - even if you don't have money you can survive....

Once we actually started to talk he admitted how lonley he has been with me at work all day. He has nothing to do. No friends. No family. I said, "I'M YOU'RE FRIEND!". He said he knows that but he wants someone to talk to. Someone to grab a beer with. Someone to play pool with. Someplace he can actually WALK to (In NC you REALLY need a car to do almost anything - even go to the store). I feel so bad because I have a really demanding job (HR Director - Learning & OD) and I work a lot. I even have to travel to Canada this week and leave him here. I feel terrible. :(

Any suggestions?

What's your occupation? In addition do you have a part-time job and if so what do you do? Do you find that it's difficult to make ends meet on your normal salary; or do you have to work O.T. or have a part time job? Is anyone working additional jobs or hours just for this immigration process only?

I am a travel agent. In February 2004 I went out on "my own" and now own my own home based FULL service travel agency (i.e. no bosses!!). I come and go when I want, go on vacations when I want. It's quite nice. I also needed a job that allowed me to be 'round when my son got home from school (middle school), since he attended the same daycare for 8 yrs and his time there was "up".

I've been in the travel industry for 16 yrs now. I also have been working part-time (since Jan) for a financial advisor as an Operations Manager. It's extreeeemely flexible. Not getting a "paycheck" (I get paid after my clients travel) for the travel job, I just wanted to find something simple that's flexible that pays "every week/other week". My part-time boss is cool....and he owns his business out of his home.

I'm not married yet. We've had, like eeeeeeeveryone else, "major issues"...of should I stay or should I go and we're STILL working on that. Also with Craig working 10-11 hours a day and me doing my 2 jobs and then with my sons soccer schedule (he's had soccer tournaments the past 2 weekends and practice every night for the past 2 week).....just really haven't had time to focus on that next step.

Julie---CONGRATS !!! Elias is absolutely adorable !!!

Have a great week everyone!!

Kelly

He has to ride through it. Most of our husbands went throught exactly what he is going through. To the woman, we have all had HUGE fights over these same issues...boredom, I'm a man taking $$ from a woman, you want to be the boss of me, i'm lonely, i'm broke, yadda yadda. I think with most of our men starting a GED class was helpful and gave some purpose and structure to their day. My friend Heather's husband got a bike and was riding around everywhere. But Henry refused to get a bike. With all his brothers tooling around in Explorers, he felt funny.

Anyway, hang in there. It DOES get better.

Where in NC are you? Charlotte?

Good morning peoples!! :D

Good morning everyone,

WElcome Elias- I am gonna check on his pic soon.

Thanks I just can't seem to shake this feeling. It is a chance I am willing to take though.

Hubby said he recieved the papers over the weekend I am waiting on him to send them back and then it is the interveiw date.

Can he just go and deliver the package to them?

I do not wish to share any information about this dead end journey.........I have reached my final destination on this train, and it is time for me to get off.

THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"If marriage means you fell in love, does divorce mean you climbed out?"

"You never really know a man until you have divorced him."-Zsa Zsa Gabor

"When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife." Deuteronomy 24:1-2

Hang in there girl......I am going through similar issues......I think Elizabeth heard Duane talking last night...She quoted him EXACTLY!!!!!! Duane is an artist so he does occupy his time by painting everyday but he said that he needs to get out of the house.......

We enrolled in a computer and English/Reading class at the local library...he starts today so hopefully this will help.....He also started going to the gym and playing basketball.....he has met some nice folks at the gym and so he is feeling a bit better......we have not had any discussion about wanting to go back home. He says he loves me too much but he just "misses the whole JA vibe"......

I am a supervisor/trainer for the Food Stamp/Medi-Cal (Medi-caid) program.....I work a lot of O/T and I have a part -time job at the gym......I make good money but living in the Bay Area is a killer.......just too damn expensive......I have great benefits too..... I have 21 days vacation a year...13 paid Holidays and 13 sick days......I work for the County Government so we always have good Holiday's...........

I am putting togther our AOS/EAD packet........I will be back with all my ??????????'s......

Looks like hurricane Ernesto will spare JA of a direct hit. I hope the path it takes will avoid loss of life and property.

Kim, it seems like you and Duane are having a great time and had a great weekend!

What kind of work do you do so that you are able to work on Sundays?

Here's a few questions for everyone:

What's your occupation? In addition do you have a part-time job and if so what do you do? Do you find that it's difficult to make ends meet on your normal salary; or do you have to work O.T. or have a part time job? Is anyone working additional jobs or hours just for this immigration process only?

I'll go first:

I'm an Investor Accountant in the mortgage lending/banking field. I don't have a part-time job but I do work overtime voluntarily(aprox 12 hours monthly). Yes, I find it difficult to make ends meet on my salary alone. Saving is nearly impossible for me (any suggestions?). I know that I would have to work O.T. once I started the process.

Actually Jax I enjoyed looking at those pics

Anna, I was checking the yahoo groups calender and I see that your birthday is tomorrow. Doing anything special?

I hope baby Elias is home now  I also hope Kimone had a successful interview and hopefully delivered a couple of bundles of joy.

Hello everyone,

Well I had a blast this weekend!!! First on Friday night my friend had a get together for me, then on Sat my sister & cousin threw me a surprise party and it had me in tears...It was so sweet!!! Then later on we went to a dance, then Sunday I had a huge hang over and went out again last night. I came in the house 5:00 this morning and had to turn around to go to work. Then today another cousin took me to Bob Chinns for lunch and then another friend is having a little get together for me as well. It's been crazy, with the non-stop kicking it but I''m complaing (just a little tired) but I'll be alright. Thanks for asking.

Looks like hurricane Ernesto will spare JA of a direct hit. I hope the path it takes will avoid loss of life and property.

I am a Payroll & Real Estate Tax Specialist at Walgreens. I don't have a 2nd job anymore but always looking. It's hard for me to make ends meet w/my salary. Yes I can pay my bills but after that it's a mystery on how I'm going to make it to my next paycheck. It's hard but I do what I can. Savings, what is that??? It's impossible for me.

I am a Program Coordinator for a special education school in northern VA. This is my ONLY source of income, and I am also a FULL time graduate student (I will begin my internship this week-- :crying: ) That's an additional 4-5 hrs per day tacked on to my 5-day work week!! Not to mention I have to report to class one day per week for 3 hrs! :( So, as you can see, that leaves little time for a part-time job. I tried to get something on the weekend, but most people don't want to accomodate my schedule, so OH WELL...I somehow manage to pay my bills on this salary, and find money for phone cards and plane tickets, but I can't lie---I'M DEFINITELY STRUGGLING!! I HAD savings, but then that was spent--so, I'm basically back to square 1...If anybody can...please... :help:
