I'm mixed race too, I've permed for years, but my hair won't lie flat lol....Decided to get locs this year, think they'd look good!

Some areas of my hair will lay flat-but others won't. If it was one texture I think it would look ok. Threee different textures-.

But I have an interesting racial makeup with the hair to match. My skin and skeletal features keeps people guessing too LOL

Um BTW... do you have some news to tell us??? :dancing: Congrats!!

Lol, whenever I go to the States, I get questioning glances, asked my SO if he thought I was paranoid, so he started looking out for people looking at me, finally agreed I WASN'T paranoid....I think people look because they can't decide if I'm Latino, mixed, Indian etc.....Only black people come out and ask me if I'm mixed though!!

Lol yes, that's news huh?? Just hope everything works out with the K1 before then, want the baby to be able to run for president!!

I have been wearing my hair natural for 2 years now. I love it!!! I wore braids or weaves for most of that time, I started wearing it out in August in a curly afro or a afro puff. For the last 3 months I've been wearing it twisted. I'm slowly working myself towards Locks that is my ultimate goal. I've been wanting to do this for several years. I spend alot of time on this website www.nappturality.com. Ok well maybe too much time  It is alot like this one... Very addicting and it offers a great deal of info and support. Check it out and let me know what you think.

That's a cool site. Lots of good info. My starter locs are on there somewhere.

My girlfriend Susan and her fiance did not get the visa today. His police record still had not reached him. It looks like the Embassy will not do anything unless all the paperwork is there.

We were hoping they would at least go through the interview and give him a blue slip to come back once he received the police record.

Ladies, make sure you have every single piece of paper they ask for. It is not like it use to be....

Darlene,

How long ago did your friend's fiance go to apply for the police record? That is nerve wracking since my finace is going to Kingston to get his this Thursday. Although, he will be paying extra to have it expedited.

I am hoping everyone else has a positive experience and returns with great news....

He did wait too long to apply for it but he went to Kingston spent all day there was told to go back the next day. He spent all the following day there and was told he could pick it up on Monday. Yesterday they went and after being there several hours he was told he should have gone to Montego Bay to request it and they would have have forwarded it to Kingston. They are trying to implement a new island wide system. (what a joke). They should have at least told him that last week not have him drive from Sav to Kingston 3 times.

You have 3 weeks so he should be all set but have him keep on it.

WE ARE DONE!!!

My husband is going to Kingston on Wednesday to get his done. They said expedited takes three days. He will be returning to Kingston the following Wed to get it.

How many copies does he need? One or two?

DRATS! I made a little over $16,500 in 2006 but in 2003, 2004, and 2005 I made more than $17, 120. So I guess I will need a co-sponser after all :( Man I really wanted to do this all myself and not have to ask anyone such a big thing! Thankfully I have some good friends who are willing to help me out!
