What do you all think about online degrees? Other than the fact that they are expensive. I'm thinking about the University of Phoenix to finish my nursing degree. Anyone know of anyone who has completed an online degree?

I am currently doing my BS/BA through Universit of Phoenix (UOP), it is a challenge but rewarding in the end.

I do not wish to share any information about this dead end journey.........I have reached my final destination on this train, and it is time for me to get off.

My sis in law is an RN and got both BSN and Masters from U of Phoenix. I think Jonesie's boss also go a degree there if I am not mistaken. I think for the married with children or those in small towns/cities its a great option.

My sister got her master's through University of Phoenix online. She liked it... It was expensive and a lot of work, but she said she learned a lot and got two promotions since graduating.

Well, I know I have been absent for a while, so I just want to do a blanket congratulations for everyone that has good news! That will have to do. :P

Elizabeth, did you ever get any bitter melon seeds and plant them? The ones I ordered were only so-so seeds, only one plant came up from it. BUT...I buy bitter melon from the asian market and there was one that had seeds that were viable, and it is growing, and we have ONE almost ready to pick! Lake says they sent us bad seeds so we would buy more, they are gay seeds! lol He is always saying funny things like that. I must say, we didnt follow directions, it said to soak them in HOT water, and we did not. I have never heard of such a thing either. He told me "of course they want you to kill them, they want you to buy more..." :help:

Anyhow, we are waiting on the background check for him to start his job, dam I hope it doesnt take as long as the immigrations ones!!! :crying: My nephew said right now they are very backlogged becuz of all the hiring and it COULD take up to a month. Oh PLEASE already! Lake is so fed up with all our rules, paperwork, etc.

Another sad thing, I WAS hoping he could insure me under a family plan, but guess how much the health insurance is for family? They dont have a single plus one. Its $1077 PER MONTH! The school picks up $240 of that, but holy moly! No way can we do that.

We are still fighting the good fight here. I am beginning to wonder if we dont have some foreign parasite or something. I have read about so many weird things that I've got the permanent heeby jeebies. Anyway, its an ongoing battle. The dermatologist said last resort is a med that is also a cattle dewormer. My sis called Tractor Supply Company to ask about the price (only becuz none of the pharmacies carry it and referred her) and she explained to them about the problem, but it went right over their head and they just kept asking how big her cattle herd was? Small or large??? She finally told them, "Its a SMALL herd, VERY small!!!":lol:

Oddly enough, the best thing I have found for Mom's face, is picking some of our poor lil bitter melon leaves, making a very strong potion with it and putting it on her face. Its helped the most so far. She has become allergic to the sulfur. :( As far the rest of us, if we dont put sulfur cream all over us every day at least once, (and believe me, its HOT becuz then your skin cant breathe), then you feel awful. I even went out and bought a dog shampoo for us to use. lol Its sad, but kind of almost comical. Please tell our angels we need some help from above. I will be so relieved when I can take a shower and use REAL shampoo and NICE smelling soap and then not having to ruin THAT by putting stinky cream on over it. Does this EVER end? Oddly enuff, Lake seems to have become immune to whatever it is, thank goodness. I told him that from my research, sweating a lot and having a strong immune system fights them off, and so he has been going outside and working in the garden for 4 to 5 hours a day in this super deadly heat, of all things, but it seems to have worked for him. As for the OTHER bugs, thats another problem.

Which brings me to a question, do your guys seem to attract bugs/mosquitoes/gnats/flies etc more than the average ? I swear, I dont know if Lake smells different or has sweeter smelling blood or what, but the poor man is plagued, even when they are attacking me, if he comes up to me, then voila, they ALL go to him and I dont get one bite or any swarming around me. I have read the british folks talking of this phenomena, do you or have your guys experienced this? Repellent doesnt help, neither does bounce dryer sheets, peppermint, and one would think with all the garlic , onions and peppers the man eats, they would hate him, but I guess it just makes him taste unique!

Anyhow, thats my book for the day...

You are cracking me up  I don't mean to laugh at you tho, I hope you get rid of what ever it is. I read/ you mentioned scabies before?? I know that they can be hard to get rid of. It takes special medication, and you have to wash or throw away sheets and ect. to get rid the possibility of reinfecting. D repels mosquitoes, he says his blood is bitter, so they don't like to bite him. The other day D was bitten by a bee :hehe::lol:

Thanks for all the replies. Now once I tell D it's going to cost 20,000$ just to finish the BNS portion. He'll flip. It was really silly of me I left one job where I was already eligible for tuitition reimburstment. Now I have to wait another year or rack up student lones. Anyone know anything about the Lone forgiveness plans?

Jonesie I you and D were too busy doing the dutty wine. That's the only excuse we'll accept for leaving us hanging

Sorry for delay...here's how things went down yesterday

Our interview was scheduled for 8:30am in San Francisco, CA- we arrived at 7:45am. After going through security (and cell phones are allowed as long as it is not a camera phone) we were told to take the elevator to the 2nd floor.

We checked in at the front desk (one side for Citizenship, one for AOS), we sat in section B and waited. There were a few couples (with their lawyers) and one family waiting. CNN was on the news *yawn* so we talked and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally we were called to be seen.

R. Nelson was our interviewer, and we were directed to his office. After raising our right hands and swearing to tell the truth, our interview began. He started with the general questions (confirming our address, phone number, names, no kids, wedding date), then went down the list (are you a terrorist, are you a Jamaican spy, etc - these questions were on the I-485). He asked me how and when I met my husband (confirming info from the K1 packet, and what we both did for a living. Once that was done he complimented me (he told me that he had reviewed all our paperwork and that I am very organized and more prepared than most lawyers he sees) and said that he feels we are a young couple going in the right direction. He took my husband's work permit, looked at his SS card, looked at some photos, complimented my mother in one of the photos, and made copies of our joint bank statement, joint photo gym membership cards, and a letter from our co-sponsor (my mother).

He then told us that the name check has already been cleared, and that we were approved. When we confirmed that we would not be travelling abroad within the next 30 days, he handed us a letter reminding to file for removal of conditions in two years. He said if we are as prepared as we have been in previous filings, we will probably get 10 year greencard in the mail. We were told to expect greencard in the mail within the next two weeks.

By the time we walked out of the building, it was 8:45am.

I cannot believe it was so easy. Our binder weighed over five pounds and he didn't look at a single thing (no tax info, marriage certificates, birth certificates, etc.). I made sure to include three years tax info in our AOS packet (even though now only one is required) and sent more than was necessary and it paid off.
