This is probably a really stupid question and I'm still not used to this new site....since the change, how do I take a "quote" and respond to it, so that the entire thing doesn't show up?? Do you know what I mean?

THANKS!

Not a stupid question at all  Click on the "quote" button and then the "reply" button at the bottom of the post. Delete what you don't want but be sure NOT to delete the

at the top and at the bottom or the whole thing will be messed up. It took me forever to figure this out.

well i have to some sympathy for craig on this....not a lot but some...he came her not knowing what it would be like...everyone is differnt in how the adapt to certian things..craig might have come here thinking it was no big deal...but then a little think called reality hit in...i think in a perfect world we would all have some sort of balance in our lives but this world is not perfect... i know from first hand experince that some men get jealous of their new babies cause of all the time their wives spend with the child...it is human..it is a human emotion to act feel that way....but the question is can they get over it??? some can and some can't

kelly you know what is true and the right thing to do...listen to your gut feelling and if you feel that he is unable to move on or get over this...then you know what to do

No one lives in a perfect world....nor is my household perfect. Damien and my daughter had their differences in the beginning but we worked it out. We are her support team so it's our job as parents to make sure her life is filled with happiness. I just couldn't imagine being married to someone who isn't willing to be on the team.

Kelly asked for other people experiences so was I letting her know my routine. I make sure I spend QT with my daughter and QT with Damien (that's why we have date nights every Friday) but most importantly spending time with both of them..we eat dinner together most nights to talk about our day and we do activities outside of the house twice a month. This works for us -I also believe you have to have balance in everything in life...family, work, church, etc...

I also feel for Craig - People know that most men are the biggest babies so you may have make them feel special....especially in our relationships. That's why it's sometimes important to do things they enjoy and being around people or things they can identify with. Maybe Kelly should have some "adult time" away from home with Craig...it's a start.

Enjoy the weekend.

Congrats Jonesie :luv:

And I have good news (and no, I'm not pregnant ) - both myself and hubby got job approvals today and we both start Monday

The first place he interviewed for waaayyyy back in the summer (remember I told you they tried to hire him for another position?) called him to interview Wednesday, and he received the "we are delighted to extend an offer of employment" call this morning

I interviewed today for an accounting position (have to put those education dollars to work) temp-to-hire (still waiting to hear back from a government position I applied for), but pays nicely  so we are both on cloud 9 and of course giving thanks to the Lord. Persistence, prayer and faith paid off.

Once he got his work permit and went to interview, a lot of employers were telling him that they wanted the actual greencard in hand also (the I-9 got taken at AOS interview) so we were at a standstill for about a month, and I swear we sent his resume from California to Australia and back with no reply.

For those of you with spouses still waiting for work, hang in there. Always remind them that you have their back, and let them know that the things they can do in the meantime (helping cook meals, massages after work, surprising you with doing the last load of laundry that was in the hamper) are just as big a help as an actual paycheck.

That is wonderful news :thumbs::dancing:

Two last questions. So I filled out that VISA application form for Iffeisha and I have two questions that I am not sure I know how to answer.

One question is "DO YOU INTEND TO WORK IN THE US " YES NO

The example on the VJ website says to answer YES -PENDING EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION- EMPLOYER UNKNOWN

Is that safe or should the answer be NO.

Other question: DO YOU INTEND TO STUDY IN THE US. YES NO

What is the correct answer.

In both cases it is obvious that SO will work/ and or attend school at some point in time. So nothing is wrong with saying YES. Or should you say NO to avoid suspicion that you are migrating for employment or educational purposes.

Good morning-

Just checking in. I am working overtime this weekend....really busy..........Nanny...I will call you when I have a quick break in a few hours.........

We have been having some major money issues (fights) in our house the last week or so. Duane is getting more and more frusterated that he can't work and that he can't help bring in money BUT....he keeps asking for me to buy things.....(he needs paint, canvas, new winter clothes, studio rental payment, haircuts, spending money, new brushes ect...) The money is just not there to give him!!!! When I tell him that I do not have it.....he has a little "attitude" and stomps off like a child. He tells me that I am not willing to support him with his painting career.......I was like......Hello assssshole???????? who do you think put your website together, created flyers, business cards, found you a studio, ect.......???? I finally got sooooo pissed the other day because I feel like he is selfish and does not understand how bad that I am struggling financially. When I tell him this, he thinks that I am just throwing this in his face since his "hands are tied" and he can't work or do anything to help me. He says that he can't wait for the day that he can begin helping and he is getting mad at me for telling him about my financial struggles. The only reason I tell him is because I am tired of him asking me to purchase things when I am obviously struggling just to pay the bills.........If I knew that he was struggling to pay the bills, I would NEVER ask him to buy me a $80.00 halloween costume or the "most expensive jacket he tried on". I would settle for something more reasonably priced and not ever ask........

Like Jonesie said, he does help by cleaning and cooking. He also makes a little money selling his artwork but the money we are making from his artwork is just covering the supply costs that I have purchased and we have not reached a "profit margin" yet....

Am I the only person who has gone through this???? How did you handle this situation or how did you resolve the "lack of understanding"......Duane is generally a very good guy and he treats me well but we have been running into this issue lately and it finally blew up the last few days. I think this is the biggest fight we have ever had since he arrived. We did not speak to each other yesterday and we ended up arguing last night until midnight. Nothing got resolved other than the fact that he insisted that "he does not want another dime from me.......he does not want me to pay for anything ever again and he will "find a way" to pay me back for everything I have done for him so far..... He insisted that he will find a way to support his wife and family and he will never again ask his wife for anything........"

So......I explained that this was a "really good start to a marriage" and he rolled over and fell asleep....................So.......anybody esle deal with this??? How do you handle it?????

Elizabeth,

Do you celebrate Diwali day? I feel so bad that Lake has these wonderful holiday traditions and there is absolutely no one around here to celebrate with. He was showing me the beautiful parade pics in the guyana news. Its looks so very pretty.

I must admit, our celebrations really suck compared to what he has told me about Indian/Guyanese parties. I know one of the first birthdays he was here that my fam celebrated, he got so excited, he was saying, ok..party on Thursday right, (my sis bday), music, dancing...what else???

I kind of gave him a stunned look....poor guy.

Its so cold here, we are actually having SNOWFLAKES!!@

I do but its usually just a get together at my aunt's house in Queens. She cooks up a storm and lights her lights while I talk about Jesus being the light of the world. But seriously, it is a lot of fun. My aunt plays old Indian songs, she and sisters in law sing a lot. We end up separated by gender and age though. The men end up together in the den or somewhere - they drink and "Gyaff" (chat) and play dominoes or cards and talk politics (yawn).

The young adults - we are out of touch where Guyana is concerned so we end up talking about clothes and bad internet jokes. We litterally have joke telling contests one joke after the next for hours. We usually stop when someone starts to choke. I go home really tired.

If you and Lake come to NY next year, you have to call me and I will drive to to Queens to see you guys.

Last week it was snowing in Michigan!! I am telling you -strange tings a gwan!

CONGRATS TO JONESIE AND DREW!!!!:dance:

Hugs to Kim. I feel you, girl.

Y'all I am seriously thinking of going back to shcoool. A lot of people tell me I missed my calling and need to go do psychology. I think I will specialize in immigration trauma counseling. I am totally serious here.

Kim hang in there. Like Shauna said your not alone. My hubby and I discuss that issue all the time. Thats why he wants to do his music tour gig so he can help out with cash flow. I also try to help during the time of his fathers death and I am struggle to just keep the basic bills covered too. Things will get better and there will be a light at the end of tunnel. (F)
