How does NVC work?

Hi Immigration gurus,

I had sent my DS-230 last week and they've entered it into their system on NOV 3rd (yesterday). Do they immediately start processing the case once its been entered into the system. They ask to allow 2-4 weeks for processing for almost everythhing but I've leared that's not true.

Reason I'm concerned is next week is 2nd week of the month and I was hoping them to complete it this week, so we can get an interview date for next month. If we miss it, we will have to wait another entire month which I don't even want to think about at this point..How realistic are my thoughts of getting inteview date for next month.

Map out where you are in the process, after you read the above link.

Calling NVC is useful, also checking payment portal (if you paid online )

You won't know for certain until you talk with NVC Tele-Operator human.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

It's not out of the realm of possibility for them to complete before the end of next week and it get scheduled... Of course that too depends on your embassy and how many dates they make available...

Don't forget - a namecheck can occur at any stage of the process.

So don't be surprised if your case stays at NVC for any additional wait, for that stage of the namecheck to be completed.

Wait..Don't scare me. I thought name check occured only for K visas?

your timeline and me about the same, my DS 230 got there on 30 Oct and was in their system on 3 Nov. I'm wondering same as you. I wish I can get it done no nothing to be requested..blah blah..anyway, good luck for you and everyone..:D

Hey Ashlesha, thanks..I hope everything will be fast with you too..lucky me that I dont have RFE, I've been worring about it since I made some lil' mistake on putting my address since 16. I put since I was born. and other thing was about I 864, my husband sent the tax return only last year. He called the operator before he sent that..I thought we have to send the tax return for the past 3 years..

Now, I'm kinda happy a lil' bit and getting nervous about the interview..the embassy here..kinda tough..anyway,good luck for u again and everyone too.

yeah...I just wish that everybody has the same good news..this process sucks! lots of stressful...we all don't deserve this stuffs...we all want to be with our love one and be with the one who we love...like I said...love will find the way.. :devil:
