Now if the Gov. would just do there job and PROCESS THE APPLICATIONS!"

Actually the government's job is NOT to process applications :(

Their job is to enforce united states immigration law. The processing of applications is just a by product of the enforcement effort... the government processes the applications so that they can insure that the people entering the united states are in compliance with the law.

There is no fundamental right to bring a fiance to this country to marry and the courts have not recognized a fundamental right to bring immediate family members either.

The process takes as long as it takes...

Personally I would think carefully about a demonstration. The mass demonstrations by the latino community effectively killed any chance of immigration reform this year. There really is little or no sympathy from the american public for people complaining that they may have to wait months or maybe even years for approvals when many in our military face the same if not longer periods of seperation.

In my opinion its probably better to utilize a site such of this to vent your frustration instead of demonstrate because I'm afraid most people will think any demonstration is simply whinning...sorry if that is harsh and I certainly dont mean to offend anyone. I sent my K-3 on March 7...so I understand the frustration

Especially because we are legal petitioners

Not only that, but on the coat tails of that insanity, we could get more media attention by presenting it as the "legal" side of imagration protesting. The other side (light side for you star wars fans) of this whole immagration thing.

Normaly, us as law abiding citizens, even through immagration, we are silent. But if we aren't this time, now is the time to get a furor going.

I might be able to get the ear of Glenn Beck. We have some social connections that could get my foot in the door to speak with their producers to do something eventually (not exactly for this protest) about how much worse the legal immagration process is than most people even think because of terrorism and illegal aliens. How the honest are being punished for being honest, etc.

Meh, nothing to see here.

I enjoy Beck. I grew up listening to him when he worked for WELI/ KC101. His wife wasa neighbor of a good friend of mine. I emailed Glenn and Stu and got no response. So hopefully your connections are better than mine lol

We'll see. I have a few things working. But it depends on what their schedule is too, i am sure. By the time they may be able to make a segment, most of this all could be passed. (Although, I doubt it)

All,

I set up an email account, visaaction@gmail.com to determine any support for this.

Sent me your email address and I will develop a master list, and from there we can determine if we will have enough support to move forward.

PD

Look Not trying to Rip you. But the reason people are becoming Xenophobic again is Because The GOV. HAS NOT ENFORCED THE LAW BY PROTECTING THE BOARDERS.....HELLO?

To answer your second point, I have and presently going through seperation with my own family... You see my family Is A Military Family and I have been through sacrifice before and presently. 1 stepson is in the 82nd Airbourne and the other stepson is active Airforce. Ive raised them both from the ages of 8 and 7 years old.

That's what makes this latest kick in the Balls so hard to take thats all.

Your points are well taken

I personally think that both a friendly protest outside a building and the website or gallery would be good...

Protesting for those who CAN go, and gallery for those who want to contribute but cant make it.

I have a feeling if a peaceful protest went on that is better than making a gallery because if you're standing in front of a building with signs, it's not like they can really ignore you... but they can easily delete an e-mail or refuse to look at a website.. how are you going to put in all that effort and not even get it looked at?...

Hi all,

I just read through this thread. I do think it is a good idea to start something up but I doubt there will be any outcome so I don't know what that something is.

Unfortunately we would have to get Americans to look outside of their world. Those who are not affected by it DO NOT CARE. Most are more concerned about getting the price of gas down. And we have to tread lightly because there are bigger problems going on: Iraq, Afganistan, North Korea, Middle East conflict between Israel, Lebanon and Hezbollah, Syria, Iran. People will think we are being ridiculous.

Reminder: Millions of legals/illegals marched in the streets, all over the country and NOTHING CHANGED. The only result of all that was the heat was taken off of Bush and the mess we're in, just as he planned.

Question: How many protesters were outside the White House as the newly sworn in President Bush rode in his limo from the inaugeration to the White House?

Answer: You don't know because there was no media press. (Unless you read every corner of the newspaper or saw Fahrenheit 911.)

Moral: If you don't get the media, you don't get attention. (And then the media's and our fickleness comes into play....)

All this aside, I'm in. Brings back memories of my Hippi Baby days (mom was a hippi and brought me to lots of protests)! I doubt I could do a DC march but let's see what else we come up with......

I was there! And there were a relative lot of us. Some people in Germany told me they saw that covered in the news. I think protesting is a lot more effective than people think, and I don't think that the Latino protests had no effect or an adverse effect. The whole point is to raise awareness.

That said, I have no idea how we'd organize one just within the family-based visa population. I'm up for anything else though.

I agree the press is the key!! Know anyone at the Washington Post, New York Times or 60 Minutes? That would be the ultimate.

I believe that the illegals marching had little or adverse effect because of who they were and thus, they lacked credibility. But legitimate citizens here protesting would carry more credibility, not to mention creating awareness.
