Its more thna just a "stamp" the "visa" takes up a full page of the passport has their picture on it and other information!

You could always email and ask them!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

In my P4 letter (I am K1), there is a sentence that says if you need your passport to travel, they can make arrangements or something -- now I dont know if this will work but if you buy your plane tickets or whatever and show them, hey I need to leave by this date, maybe they will work on it?

I am also worried myself -- my interview is Nov 13 and well, I want to be with my fiance by Thanksgiving. And flights that week... *cringe*

Goodluck on getting the interview though! Worse comes to worse, youd be spending Christmas in Canada, but come New Year... *dun dun dun* You will all be together!!!! I am so happy for you :)

PS I emailed the consulate about using the super fast envelope (Priority AM, guaranteed delivery next business day before noon) and they said they dont care as long as the size is the same!!!!

Finally married... and still married... ;)

When I had my interview last Thursday I heard a couple asking about picking up the passport the next day and they told them that this option exists only for applicants (benefitiaries) who already live and work legally in the US...

I got the Next AM Priority Courier envelope, and they took it no problem. Just now I got an email from Canada Post (I registered for updates on my tracking number) that my envelope arrived at the post office in MTL...if Canada Post keeps their word, I should have my passport tomorrow by noon. Can't wait!

Why don't you go and spend Christmas with them and then accompany them back to the US after the holidays?

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Timing is everything. I just confirmed Flight, time off work, rental truck for this weekend. I am flying up there for my daughter's BDay and driving back 200 miles with our belongings. Don't know if I can do Christmas on top of that. Plus my mother in law decided to book her non refundable flight to AZ for 12/23/09. I will talk to the spouse about the overnight envelope and hopefully not have to spend the holidays with just the MIL :help:

The first means they have, on hand, a document you gave them and the document is ok.

If something is marked with a C - it means if you have any questions about it, check with the consulate

so other than the AOS exemption forms that I have to take for the kids, nothing else is actually required.

However, I am sending with my wife

Handful of photos

Last 3 years tax transcripts

Copies of utility bills - current US address

Copy of mortgage - current US address

Photo copies of Marriage cert, and Birth certs (So I can get originals back)

Letter from my work - Length of employment and still employed with Salary

Itineraries from previous trips to Canada

Anything else she should be prepared for?

Congrats on getting your long awaited interview date! You know, you have NOTHING to lose by asking if you can have the visa right away, especially given it's so close to the holidays. You're also a CR-1/IR-1 interviewee, so the few times they have done it, it's been to those folks. Maybe because they're already a "resident"? I'd email the Consulate and ask them ahead of time.

Congratz dude!!!

I was just telling Peachey the other day that I still felt horrible about your situation.

I'm glad they FINALLY remembered you! :)

Montreal Interviewer: "What do you have in common with each other?"

Peachey: "We're REALLY weird."

Montreal Interviewer (incredulously to me): "Do you agree with that?"

<I think back to several days before the interview. Driving through the country, passing a field with cows...>

Peachey: "MOOOO! MOOOOO! Does this make me weird?"

Me: "No, well yes. Here, let me roll down the windows so they can hear you better!"

Peachey: "MOOOOO!!!!"

<back to interview>

Me: "Yes, yes I do."

I would kill myself if I had to do that. :)

Other option is to reschedule the interview. But Varba has alluded to a "situation" you have been through so that might not be a welcome option. lol

MIKEY! Glad to know your envelope finally resurfaced. So three business days for you huh? Thats not too horrible. Did anyone find out if the other person who interviewed last week Monday finally got his passport/paperwork?
