So Yoko just left the Embassy in Japan literally 10 minutes ago. I'm really really confused though. I asked her if she passed or failed and all she said is the interview went very fast, only 4 questions, and the person that did the interview said we had a unique situation/relationship. He then told Yoko she would receive the packet and passport in about a week.... Then the interview was done and she left the US Embassy.

Soooo.....

What the hell does that mean???

He then told Yoko she would receive the packet and passport in about a week.

that statement leads me to believe they are sending the sealed packet to her with visa in the passport other wise why keep the passport?

I guess she gave her passport in before the interview. I guess this is given with the I134 and other supporting documents before the interview. I would assume that she would receive her passport back if she failed but I really have no idea... Keep the ideas coming please...

You can call the Department of State visa line (202-663-1225), follow the prompts to speak to a visa specialist, and inquire about her case status. You'll need to provide the consular/NVC case number.

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

Legally an American Embassy can not keep a passport that they have not issued. Therefore the fact they kept it means she passed. Relax and breathe :)

It seems like she got the visa, why else would they keep her passport for a week?

The only reason why the american consul will keep the passport is for visa stamping. Stay in peace, she will be with you soon..
