I don't meet the financial requirements to qualify for a K1 visa, not because I can't truly financially support my fiance, but because I live in a cheap part of the nation, and the K1 visa compares my salary to the NATIONAL average.

However, if I can get a cosponsor for her, would that circumnavigate that issue? If not, we'd have to wait three more years before we can be together, because that's about how long it will take me to graduate college and get a full-time, well-paying job.

Circumnavigate insiuates to get around something. You cannot get around the need to support your fiancee. A cos-ponsor could put you in compliance with the requirements, it does not get around them. Yes, you can use a co-sponsor. Where is the Utopian place in the US where $18000 per year is so much closer to the median income? I can do my work for almost anywhere, if they have internet and an airport nearby. So where is this place I can triple my standard of living?

ya, suggest you get a co-sponser.

but - remember - when/if she gets here, you're prolly gonna need to get a co-sponser again when ya file the AOS package...
