That's actually a big Mexican tradition on New Years and every year in LA it seems in the Latino areas, someone gets injured by a falling bullet shell or slug...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

My gosh...with everything that's gone/going on with this visa thing right now....I haven't even thought of New Years, haha.

I plan on moving to Michigan after Christmas...Sunday, Monday(???).

So with my fingers crossed I'll be spendig the first day of 2010 with my man, not thinking about having to go home & back to work on the following Monday!!!

Have fun in Chicago!!

Lol First girl in the history of the world to be excited about having New Years in Michigan I'm thinking haha :) Soon we'll be partial neighbors :)

Hmmm... maybe a Detroit (okay, SUBURBS!!!!) VJ New Year's Eve party??!! CDAgirlMI, we have a spare bedroom... I'd be willing to offer up our place ... perhaps if people are interested.

Event Date

9/24/11 - Mailed I-751 packet to CSC

Probably just going to stay up and eat food and drink some alcohol and play video games.

Interesting combo I know

I loves me some chips and dip.

This could well be the biggest New Years Party in Michigan this year haha, I don't know anyone who's actually staying in town :)

Well, I just had a downer. My husband just mentioned that he's been thinking it might be nice to go and see his parents for New Year's since we won't see them for Christmas.

Do you ever wonder, if you marry someone and don't really care for their family, but your spouse does, how that can be? I mean if the spouse is really fond of the parents/other family members - how does that work (when the two of you obviously get along well)!

Is it viewing family with blinders on or do they just treat the spouse better. I haven't encountered this as my first set of inlaws were quite nice to me and this set I have never met, but my MIL seems very nice on the phone.

I often wonder if I had known his mother for much longer than I did (we only met a few times before we married.... though I did stay at their regular home and their vacation place for a week at a time) if it would have turned me off marrying him. Because now..... when I see him do a quirk or a trait that his mother does...... it really kind of irritates me. I wonder if one of Sprailenes' friends will send this to her now.

If I lived in Michigan, I would come to the party! (Was I invited? )

I think it's just one of those things, where it's family... so even if they are annoying, well, it's family so too bad  Like if my husband didn't care much for my family, I certainly wouldn't want to hear that much or hear him talk bad about them. I'd just expect him to deal with it and shut up

I agree.

Okay, maybe not totally, because I have a few relatives where it really won't hurt my feelings if he doesn't like them because I find them annoying too.

I think I've done a really good job of hiding it, though. Because I heard him on the phone telling his parents that I was really looking forward to seeing them at Thanksgiving. I should have been an actress. :hehe:

Yeah, I understand putting up with annoying family members, I mean when they actually want to go see them regularly etc - it means they don't find them so annoying.

It's one thing when you are both dragging your sorry butts to a family get together, it's another to be dragged

And wow krikit, that's pretty darn good!
