I am planning on getting statements from my parents about their knowledge and approval of me and my fiances relationship. Should it be typed up any special way, or is there an example on here anywhere, or does anyone have any help in typing this paper correctly? Since Morocco is a high scam country, we want to make sure we cover our bases to make sure they dont question our relationship.. Any help is appreciated!

The Example Forms section here on VJ has an example Sworn Affidavit from Friends To give you some idea of basic formating. (Note: The example on VJ shows formatting with a Notary's signature section but notarization isn't always needed.)

The first thing people pulling a scam do is get affidavits from family members and friends. That said, if you wish to include them, there is no particular format. That family member of friend would write a letter expressing thier thoughts and sign it. Letters must be in English or translated. Original signature, notary is not usually required (can be consulate specific) but a notary would not hurt.

Including these doesn't hurt anything but they are of secondary (at best) importance as anyone can do them for anyone at anytime. I could write out letters all day long for couples, sign them with different names and even notarize them myself, having not used my real name for the letter. See? Consulates are aware of this and grant the appropriate weight in making a decision. Hopefully you will have LOTS more evidence of relationship wo go with them.

You can check out the notes of my conversations with a USCIS director with many years experience reviewing cases for AOS and Lifting Conditions. While he does not speak for the consulates, you can get an idea of what he thinks of such evidence (you will be presenting it to USCIS next, if you get the visa)

Well if its going to hurt my case then I most definitely dont want to do it.. I have thought about the idea that it would help us but then might seem a little TOO put together..

It won't hurt. It is secondary evidence at best. Include it with the body of evidence you present. Why not?

I had already planned on doing the same thing. I think it's a great idea, especially if your family can't travel to meet his family.

Even if such letters are secondary evidence, they cannot hurt and could help. See the U.S. Consulate forum for the thread "Getting Testimonial Letters" for details. In brief, adding to what's been posted above here, each letter-writer needs to provide complete contact information for himself.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

While not needed for the petition, the letters may be of use at the consulate level.

From what I've seen in some MENA threads the family knowledge and approval can be a significant issue.
