Just wondering how many petitioners are actually going with your partner to the K1 interview? If you have already gone through the interview with your SO did you think it made a difference at all? I think I'm going to go for support. I think he'll probably spaz a bit :) Just wondering your thoughts on the matter.

Thanks!

Jaymie

When I went for my inerview none of the K1 partners were there.

There was a lady who I think was CR! whose husband was with her.

It is all very boring, better to go shopping.

I wanted to be there, even managed to weasel my boss into letting me do a compressed work week so I wouldn't have to take vacation, but then the airline ticket was so expensive, and I wasn't even going to have 3 full days over there, and I didn't go. It was going to be almost as much travel time as time with him.

The reports on the interviews are so overwhelmingly "It was anticlimactic" that I don't feel too badly.

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.

More detailed time line in profile.

I felt like I wanted to be there because Ian was so nervous, but he handled it really well and we saved $800 in flight tickets. :)

The staff in London are all very nice, and it's not as daunting as it appears.

I attended the interview in London, but I don't think it makes the tiniest bit of difference. In some countries with difficult consulates, it does help, but London is so easy and is not looking for proof of your relationship. I went because it was summer, I had a free frequent flyer ticket, and plenty of time to go. We made a holiday of it and stayed in London and did some tourist things. I planned my normal summer visit to include the interview date since he didn't plan to move until the fall. If it's going to cost you lots of money and eat up your limited vacation days from work, I suggest saving both for better use. AOS is going to cost you $1010 right off, so prioritize your money for that.

My major concern is that I have gone through an AOS with my ex husband (english citizen). I'm adding information to the I-134 to explain that he has 40 qualifying quarters of work blah blah blah and I don't want John to have to worry about having to explain any of that because he'll stand there with a deer in headlights look thinking ####### are they talking about? Obviously he knows about my ex but he doesn't know the ins and outs of the papework. I know he won't have an issue with any of the questions asked about us and our relationship, I'm more concerned if they need info about the previous relationship and I'm not there to answer them? Does that make sense?

I doubt if you would be able to, you would be in the waiting room.
