Affidavits from India

I would like to get an affidavit while in New Delhi, India from a few sources to serve as secondary evidence for my K1 Visa application.

I would like to have an affidavit for certain pieces of evidence - such as an Indian priest attesting to our engagement or the family of the fiance attesting to the engagement.

As an affidavit in India - would it suffice to simply write an honest statement, and have it signed by the author AND A NOTARY?

Or does it need some other type of signature such as someone more powerful than a Notary - someone higher up in the Court system?

CR-1 Visa Was Approved :-)

Entry Date to USA: 2/3/2011

12-10-2012 - Sent off I-751 packet visa USPS

I751 Was approved - 10 Year GC was granted

N-400 Progress

4/10/2014: Package Mailed
4/11/2014: Package Received
4/14/2014: Notice Date
x/x/2014: Biometrics appointment

Notary would work just fine

Be CAREFUL with the engagement ceremony info - more than a few people here have gotten the unpleasant surprise of being accused of getting married using certain engagement pics/info.

There was a revitalized older thread maybe in the Embassy forum that was about that exact thing.

Let's see if I can find it...it was the Chennai consulate...http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=120698

I'll second the same comment Catknit made. When submitted the engagement ceremony pictures, Leave out any pictures that might gave the consulate any picture that might gave an indication it's a wedding instead of an engagement.

You can submit pictures with friends, families, leave out pictures with the blessings and so on, just keep those for your private viewing with family and friends.

Ok I would like to ask a more detailed question. I will only be getting an Affidavit of Engagement from the Parents of my Fiance - not from a Priest.

I simply would like a letter from the Parents attesting to the Engagement.

I do not know anything about Affidavits in India - what should the content of such an Affidavit be? I want something short and simple - but not sure what would be considered appropriate in this situation (an Indian Affidavit notarized and submitted to the USCIS).

Also, thanks for the tips on the photos - I looked at my engagement photos and they seem quite boring. No real blessings or priests present - just family pictures of us posing and also some of us eating .
