Toronto Medical and Vaccinations

Huzzah! I'm booked for November 4th!! I'm hoping I get my interview letter in time. This afternoon I'm going to get dose #1 of the Chicken Pox vaccine... sigh.

side note.. my birthday was yesterday, and the girl on the phone asked how old I was... it was the first time i had to tell someone my 'new' age... :'(

I wonder why you never got chicken pox as a kid...

yeah, it's absolutely worse in adults. Like, scary worse. It only took me a 1/2 hour in and out to get the vaccine. I was expecting a longer wait, so that was cool!

Not ALL kids got chicken pox.. just like, 90% of them. I had to pay $60 today for apparently having a good childhood immune system. Boourns! LOL

How would we know if we've passed the medical? The results are in a sealed envelop that we cannot open right?

And I dont see how those ppl working in Montreal would understand all the medical mumbo jumbo.

Maybe in the envelop there's just a paper saying PASS or FAIL

They have a legal obligation to tell you if there is something wrong with the medical, so they will let you by telephone when they process the documents. For example, there have been people that got a false positive HIV test and they were contacted by the medical staff ASAP.

So I wouldn't worry about the pass/fail situation. They will tell you if there is something wrong/missing for sure.

Agreed -- when I picked up my results, I asked if I "passed" the medical and the receptionist said that if there were any problems, they wont give the results to me. So if you come in to pick up your envelope and your x-ray film, youre good to go!

From what I hear, you have to finish Gardasil.

Like, I probably wont be finished it by the time we file AOS, but I think you have to prove you're finishing it with doctors appointments and the like.

I think you have to finish it for AOS, or at least show that youre continuing it after the K1. My last shot will be in Dec and Im worried itll interfere with the AOS application bec I dont know how fast the future husband's insurance will kick in to cover the shot (if its covered there) and if I can find a doctor in time

But for my medical, the doctor gave me a check mark with just 1 shot.

I had my doctor fill out the yellow card with it and had her sign it. I also brought my receipt just in case. But the doctor during the medical just looked at the yellow card.

Hey all,

Here is a quick & dirty review of the medical in Toronto!

So I just did the medical today. Not sure if they are like this everyday, but the medical was open at 6:30. I got there around 7ish, gave the first two pages of the packet 3 to the receptionist and she told me to wait in the waiting room. There were only 2 people ahead of me. I think I waited around 15 minutes before a lady called me in. I handed her my passport, vaccination records, 3 passport photos and paid her the $275. I was then told to wait again. Another 10 minutes, I had to do the chest X-Ray, and then I waited another 15-20 minutes before getting called into an exam room. A nurse did the blood pressure and pulse. The doctor then came in and was super nice, asked all the necessary health questions and did the physical exam, which included the pelvic exam (on the surface). Then the same nurse who checked my pulse and blood pressure did the breast exam. Then another 5 minute wait for the bloodwork. This was the scariest one for me, and the lab person who took my blood was no help in calming me down. She basically said we didn't make these to be comfortable for you, or something to that extent. Anyway, overall it took me about an hour and 40 minutes from beginning to end.

The results will be in Friday after 12PM. Hopefully I passed! I didn't see a weird look on anyone's face, so that's a good sign, right?

Here's hoping it's cheaper in the US, since I'm getting my 2nd shot there.

And I'm also hoping it doesnt hurt.

Ha...yeah, so at the interview, when they want proof of relationship & intent to marry, can we say: "I wouldn't put myself through this crazy process if I didn't want to marry!!! Vaccines, medicals, $$, time, STRESS....that enough proof for ya?!?!!?"
