What papers do I send first?

Hello,

I have read through the forums and have actually asked this same question before, but I dont think it actually posted. Anywho, I am quite confused about which forms should be sent first with the I-129F. I know people that sent financial information in the very beginning with their petition, but I have read this isnt necessary. What exact paperwork and items should go out in the very first mailing with the I-129F petition, and what should be left for later in the interview and consular stage?

Also, what exactly is a long form birth certificate? What distinguishes this from a short form cert?

thanks very much!!

:guides: The K1 Guide includes a complete checklist of the documents you need to submit with your I-129F.

Long form birth certificate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birth_certificate#Long_forms

Improved USCIS Form G-325A (Biographic Information)

Form field input font changed to allow entry of dates in the specified format and to provide more space for addresses and employment history. This is the 6/12/09 version of the form; the current version is 8/8/11, but previous versions are accepted per the USCIS forms page.

I don't think Morocco has long and short forms. Your fiance should be able to obtain one no problem for about 20dh. My husband obtained his from the hospital he was born at.

The I-129F filing does not require a birth certificate for the foreign fiance. It requires a long form birth certificate (or copy of all pages of a valid, unexpired US passport) to prove the citizenship of the US citizen petitioner (if the US citizen derives his/her citizenship from birth).

For a lot of people the differences between long form and short form is that the long form includes information on the parents as well as the person whose certificate it is.

Long form birth certificate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birth_certificate#Long_forms

The K1 Guide lists two documents, the I-129F and the bio form, but once you click either of those links, you find more documents on the next page. This is why I'm confused. Do I only need those 2 forms or do I also need the ones listed on the linked-through page (financial form, other forms)?

Both of those document links take you to the same page - the download page for K1 related forms, which contains links to all (or most, depending on the consulate) of the forms that will be needed at any time during the K1 process. You don't have to download and submit all of them with the petition. Just follow the guides to figure out which forms and documents you need with the petition, and use the download page to obtain the forms.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
