Letter for your interview

In the guides it says that my fiancee needs to send me a letter saying she still would like to marry me.

Why is this needed??

In all of the documentation that is sent from the embassy it does not say that she needs to state this again.

Some embassys ask for them some dont. It is used as evidence of continuing relationship and that you both still want to be married. I have sent my fiancee a letter stating a continued desire to be marry her and she will do one also. Better safe than sorry.

But thats my point how could they stop you from being issued a visa when it does not ask for this on any form that you prove a ongoing relationship at that point. By the way this is for the London embassy.

The letter also should say that you are 'able' to marry. That means all prvious marriages must have ended in divorce or annulment or death and you need to provide the proof of that. If you read the forum, some people forget that they had a marriage several years ago and do not get it resolved and then they get stuck in the K1 business for a long time. Good Luck

One thing you need to realize is that the consular doing the interview can deny your visa, for any number of reasons, if he thinks it isnt a valid relationship you are out of business. Again I ask the question, if you know it might be needed why not provide. How will you feel if denied or your fiance has to go back to another interview because of lack of evidence, just because you said "they didnt tell us to bring it so I am not"

Dwar49 thats my point please point out on any of the forms where it asks for this.

I understand your point but i think that if i did not have the internet and just went by what the forms from the embassy say i would not know to have a letter stating that i needed to prove my ongoing relationship.

If he thinks its not a valid relationship then a letter is not going to help that at the end of the day i could print out and write myself this afternoon.

I think a affidate of support is more than enough to prove that the relationship is ongoing not that i am saying your point is not valid.

The affidavit is used along with other things for a conof to determine whether or not an applicant will or wont become a public charge, not if one has an ongoing relationship. Evidence of a relationship is something completely different.

Okay, then if that is the case try going to the interview without proof of continued relationship and see what happens. As I said before, the consular can deny a visa for any number of reasons and has broad discretionary powers. You can find that in the Manual for consular affairs. So squabbling over what you should take and shouldnt, or what they should tell you to bring is immaterial. It is not the consular's job to prove anything, the burden of proof lies with the petitioner. You can look that one up in the CFR regarding, immigration/visa laws.

I understand all that just the point of the letter that was all, i am taking pictures with me of me at her recent graduation in the US and then she was here on vacation last week so i am also taking pictures of us with family and of us camping, so i am doing that little bit more.

Just seems mad that they dont ask for it but you could be denied for not having it.

Thats what makes the process so frustrating. As with all other governmental agencies

There are CFRS

There are Instructions

There are Manuals

There are Directives

There are Policies

And there are Standard Operating Procedures

The only way you would know everything is to have all those documents, and believe me, no one person has ever read thru them and lived to tell about it!!!!!

drelewis....

here is the link to the Guides page where it states that you submit another letter of intent, dated closer to the date of the interview. Scroll down towards the bottom of the page...it's in the box that states what you send to your fiancé(e) once you have the NOA2.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

My personal advice: Just send the letter....what can it hurt? Besides, IF they DO want it, you'll have it.
