Location Question Regarding Medical

So I'm a Vancouverite, but because of the fact I'll be having to do my interview at the consulate in Montreal (which I'm still grumbling about...), does that mean I'll have to have my medical done in Montreal as well, or will it be acceptable to have my medical done at the designated location here in Vancouver? It's probably too early for me to be concerned about this yet, since my case is still in the NVC stage, but it's a good (and important) thing to know.

Wow, you really lucked out there. :( Why do you have to do your interview in Montreal??? (If you don't mind me asking, I mean...)

Yeah, you should be able to do your medical in Vancouver, as others have said.

Also -

Aboard the H.M.S Immigration, there are many other boats in which you could be tossed into. Ours would be the H.M.S. Waiting Forever for Montreal (which more resembles a dingy than an actual boat...). Welcome aboard. Although you may feel like abandoning ship, just remember that the tiny little spec in the distance is that island where you and your loved one will FINALLY be together.

ALL cr-1 (ir-1) have their interviews in Montreal!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Tell me about it!

I only learned about this last week. The only consulate in the country that processes IR-1 / CR-1 visas is the Montreal consulate. I was (and still am) baffled by that, given that it's 3000 miles away. Heaven forbid if there's ANY sort of hiccup with the interview...

Nevertheless, it's just a process (a loooong process, though longer for many than for me), and there's truly nothing one can do about it but be patient and hope that one's journey on H.M.S. Immigration doesn't wind up like the S.S. Minnow...

At the rate things are going, we could watch ALL of Gilligan's Island multiple times in both English and French (if that's available - I'm sure it is..), and still be waiting for an interview date...

(Okay, so maybe it won't be that bad... but I'm on the side of telling myself it's going to be a year before we get a date, then if we get something sooner, hey surprise! Better to have your spirits lifted than to have them crash and burn into dust...)

Hey everyone! I keep reading that the wait in Montreal is super duper long.....like are we talking 4+ months after the NVC closes the case???? Oh man, I was thinking it was more like 2 months! Does it appear to be getting slower or picking up a bit there? Do you know how they determine your date? Is it based on "next available" after your case closes at NVC? Do they base it on when your I-130 was approved, even if you took longer to submit your packages to NVC? Just wondered if there was a rhyme or reason.

How soon in advance can you get your medical done?

It is constantly getting slower. No one truly knows how they base the interview dates. Read through the Canada forum - lots of posts on this.
