OMG OMG OMG... 10/17/09 and I just got the biggest surprise in the mail. I have been depressed for the last week or 2 watching everyone getting their NOA2's from their Service centers. Today I checked the USCIS web page to see if we got our NOA2 but there were no updates to our case number.

This is the letter I got from the NVC today.

The State Department's National Visa Center has recently received an approved I-129F petition filed on behalf of your fiance. This letter is to let you know that within a week the petition will be forwarded to the appropriate visa-issuing post where your visa interview will take place.

Our Records show that you filed the I-129F pettion for:

Name of fiance: xxxxx

INS Receipt Number: xxxx

Case Number: xxxx

The case will be precessed at:

Post: HELSINKI

EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES, VISA UNIT

HELSINKI FIN-00140

FINLAND

Your fiance will soon receive a packet with instructions from the consular section on how to apply for the K1 visa at that post and what documents will be required. In the meantime, you should visit the Department of State's website at www.travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_4323.html to determine if the processing post has any information of which you should be immediately aware

Sincerely,

Bureau of Consular Affairs.

Does this happen a lot?

We are going to start putting her packet together today from some forms I found on the internet (PDF's) but.... Can someone please point me in the right direction to make sure I have the right forms? I could find it myself normally, but my head is flying to high in the clouds right now :) :) :)

Go to the K-1 Guides and scroll to the bottom. It tell you what to do next. Also, I recommend going to the forums that are set up for your particular region. There should be a lot of great advise on there and to know what your fiance needs to do next you need to go to the embassy website for their region as well. I hope this helps.

Congratulations. I would not say it happens "a lot" but yes it does happen. The online update means nothing but you DO need a copy of the I-129f approval for the interview and for the AOS. If it doesn't arrive in the next week or so then you need to get after USCIS for it. They will intially try to get you to pay $90 to replace it. Ask to speak to an immigration officer (the phone operators are useless) and explain the situation.

Congrats! Wow-the Bureau of Consular Affairs needs to learn how to spell!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!
