Hello everyone!

My interview is set on October 20. The Consulate received the case on the 5th of this month and they allowed me to schedule my interview on October 8. Until today, October 15, I still don't have the letter from the Embassy stating that I am already eligible to schedule the interview.

Will it be all right to go to the interview with only the appointment letter sent through e-mail and printed? My documents are complete except for that letter that I have described above.

Hi there. I don't think you should worry...a number of VJ members in the PI Regional Forum have not received the letter from the Embassy (which is usually sent via Air21).

As long as you have your appointment letter and you have complied with all your requirements for the interview, you will be fine. :) A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you a couple of days after the deadline for edits or changes to the interview date has passed.

In this whole process, the only thing that anybody ever did to the letter I received from the Embassy (stating eligibiliry to set the date) is when SLMCEC stamped it and wrote the date and our Patient Data Sheet (PDS) number.

My understanding is that appointment letters are no longer being sent out. Check the USEM website for more information.

The USEM sends a letter informing the K applicant that they are eligible to set a date for their interview. They sent mine via Air21. This is the new Packet 4 Instruction Letter (on it, they give you the link where to download the checklist of documents you need for you respective K interview). Technically when you receive this letter, you can contact the USEM call center anytime and make your interview appointment.

(But because of known shortcuts in the K process, some of which have been generously provided by thepizzadude, an applicant can actually set an appointment date --- without receiving the letter from the Embassy mentioned in the first paragraph --- on their own as long as they have called DOS to confirm that the USEM has received their file and that it has been entered/processed into their system.)

Somce VJ members, like Scotty's Girl (if I remember correctly), managed to get their medical exam and an interview date even without the letter from the USEM (stating their eligibility to call for an interview appointment).

Once you have set your interview appointment date with the USEM call center agent, they will ask for your e-mail address and send you an appointment letter via e-mail confirming your interview date and time.

My understanding is that appointment letters are no longer being sent out. Check the USEM website for more information.

Yes, that was actually the pizza guy who posted that there's no need to wait for anything from the Embassy before setting the interview. I am glad it's quite normal not to have to bring the first letter from the Embassy during the interview and that I can just rely on my appointment letter.

Hi Fae. Here's what Brian and I received from US Embassy Manila through email. Don't worry of getting anything from them on post/courier mail. See my highlighted statement below ok? I hope this assures you that it is quite fine not to get any mails from the US Consulate except your passport with the visa

Date: September 30, 2009

Dear Mr...:

This is in reply to your inquiry of September 30, 2009, regarding the immigrant visa case of the referenced individual.

The applicant has been scheduled for a visa interview on October 28, 2009 at 7 in the morning, at the time where we allowed her to choose at liberty when you called to schedule. We understand that your fiancee has work to finish before attending to visa concerns.

Your fiancee, Ms..., need not wait for the hard copy of the appointment letter and can download the visa appointment packet and forms from our website at http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3238.html

She should follow all interview preparation instructions for immigrant visa applicants located on the Embassy’s website at http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3238.html. The instructions contained at the website will provide the applicant with the required documentation and procedures to follow prior to the interview date.

She must compile the required documents and complete the medical examination before her October 28 visa interview. Please note that the medical examination may take more than one day to complete. She may now go to St. Luke’s Extension clinic in Manila to have her medical exam.

If the applicant would like to inquire further, he/she may contact the Embassy's Visa Call Center at telephone 1-909-101-7878. This number is for subscribers of PLDT and Smart telephone touchtone landlines with national and international distance dialing features (NDD or IDD access). Callers in the USA can contact the Call Center at 1-888-877-9888. The Call Center is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Manila time). There is a fee assessed to callers by the Call Center for its services.

We hope this information is helpful to you.
