Hello Everyone,

Finally CFO is completed!

We got our VISA back in September and didn’t feel like hanging around Manila for another day, so we decided to attend the CFO in Cebu. I have heard that Manila is more convenient but I wanted a glimpse of Cebu before going back to the states so we opted for Cebu.

Husband/Petitioner is posting here. I didn’t get to go to any of the CFO activities; I just waited in the Motel. We stayed at Mango Park Hotel on Gen. Maxilom St. Very close to SMEF for the Seminar, Inexpensive, free wireless internet in the room and cable. The place is pretty run down but it was a quiet neighborhood. St Mary’s (SMEF-COW) is across the street from USC-Boys High, Address - 60 Gen. Maxilom St., Cebu City. Less that 5 minute walk from Mango Park Hotel. There is a sign at Ground Level and usually a guard sitting there in a chair outside.

They asked more questions and wanted more documentation at CFO than the Embassy asked at our Visa Interview so I thought I would mention a couple of pointers for CR-1 Visa holders:

• Take the Visa Packet from the Embassy with you, you will need it to get the sticker. Copy the Immigrant Data Sheet before you go. They will keep a copy and they insist on seeing the original before giving you the sticker. I didn’t want to take the Visa Packet with me but they want to see it. Also have copies of your VISA available, obviously.

• Take Husband’s “affidavit of legal capacity to marry”. They asked for copies both at SMEF seminar and at CFO office for registration.

• One girl was sent home yesterday and asked to return because she forgot to bring her husband’s divorce decree.

• They also asked a lot of questions about my education. I have an unfinished degree and they wanted to know what courses I was lacking. Maybe they were just testing my wife to see how well she knew me.

Other that those points, here’s a pretty good write up from a previous poster about the procedure and what to take. This helped me prepare for the interview. TAKE EVERYTHING!

I wish I could attend one of those CFO interviews, and when they start asking questions that is out of bounds.

I would tell them to "Get Fvcked"

CFO is a Big Joke in my Opinion...........

Fortunately for the rest of us, your opinion does not matter...

Its a foreign nation and they can make any requirement they want.

get over it, get used to it, move on!!
