Name changed by deed poll. Problem??

Hi there- I was wondering whether anyone would be able to help me with my puzzling question. Me and my fiance are soon about to start the application for the k1 visa, however Im a little worried about 'my name'.

I was born (and therefore registered on my birth certificate) with a surname different to what I have now (my parents got re-married and I took my new step dads surname). I was never officially adopted, so I just took his name without changing it legally. I did however get it changed in 2003 by deed poll so all my medical records, passport, driving licence etc are now officially in the name that Ive basically had for the majority of my life (sorry if this is a little bit confusing). K- well all I was wondering was whether this would be an issue when it came to the application process, would it make the police check difficult, will uscis think that I have something to hide?? Just how much of an issue is this and is it likely to delay the process.

Id appreciate any advice (or re-assurance if thats all I need and Im panicing about nothing) that anyone could give me.

Thankyou

Donna x x

I would say file under your new name and provide the Deed poll showing that your name was legally changed at some point. They may ask if other surnames have been used if so put your birth name and a copy of the deed poll.

I hope that helps.

I had my name changed by court order when I was 18. Anywhere they ask for other names used, put your old name. Attach a certified copy of the official name change along with a statement signed and dated by you explaining the sequence of events. This is what I did and there was never a question.
