Question???

What does it mean when the DHL is saying "Shipment on Hold" I am tracking Garfield's Visa and its been saying this since Tuesday???? Should I worry?

No, that's a pretty standard notice. I haven't used the tracking but the best thing he can do is call the office they'll deliver it to after about day 3-4 (business days) & check if it's there. It might get there by then, or at least a week to the day of his approval.

Okay, I have another little rant today. (I hope people don't think I'm just cranky & only rant about things all the time.) I'm mostly good-natured...I just like to b@#ch about things that bug me.

Anyway, hubby's father (the one who in 26 years never minded him even one time) wants to come up to where my parents live (where we'll be for the holiday) the Friday after Thanksgiving, pick him up that afternoon and bring him back Saturday evening! This irritates me on so many levels! Where do I begin?? This is our FIRST holiday together & the man wants to rearrange our plans for us! If it weren't for me & my parents, the man wouldn't even be able to SEE (one of) his son(s) here! I could go on & on & on & ON! Basically, my answer to his e-mail to me if that would be okay for him to do is to ignore it & let hubby speak with his Dad & tell him what's what. I'm glad he is getting to know his family but now his half-siblings want to get in on all of this & where the heck were they before??? Oh yeah, getting support from their Dad & a college education while he was back in JA going hungry & missing school altogether! :ranting:

Thoughts anyone??

That's a tough one.

What does hubby think about it?

I have a friend who was starved for attention from his parents as a child. He lived with his dad; but never knew his mom because step-mom made sure he NEVER got to hear from her. And dad was/is pretty much an alcoholic. It's a really sad story. Anyhow, any little bit of attention he could get, he jumped at and, sadly, still does. He finally got to know his mom about 10 years ago. So, he drops everything when they make some last minute plan. He has learned over the years to pick and choose what's best for him. But, in the end, family is family. When we get that attention from our family, we take it for granted cause we've always gotten it.

Regardless of what you think, Ells, if he wants to go, I think you have to buck up and let him go. I get what you are saying; but you have to put yourself in his shoes too. Just talk to him and let him know how you feel and why. And, point out that the next holiday will be your first Christmas here in the US and you don't want to see something like this happen again. It has to fit into all your plans that you made together.......Holiday plans with 2 families always faces some unique challenges.

Thanksgiving is not the biggest holiday really.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. And I'm not trying to keep him from his family or anything like that. I've told hubby my thoughts & I think he agrees but I'm going to encourage him to go with what he feels strongly about without my opinions being a part of it. He is really looking forward to turkey day at my parents' house though...he's even been having dreams about it! If he really wants to do it, I'll tell him to go ahead but I just feel like his Dad has a lot of dyam nerve. I also see things that I don't feel are in hubby's best interests. In a way, his Dad seems to want to parade him around like "here's my other son" but other than that, doesn't want much to do with him (us)...except for when he starts asking about my single girlfriends so he can find a replacement for his GF of 10 years. (Oops, getting off track here.) His Dad just sometimes tries to butt in where he should leave well enough alone. I know hubby's Mom would be livid if she heard how he's trying to interfere with our plans.

I get it. Believe me, I get it. Been there done all that. Hate to say it; but it's one of those things only hubby can really learn and then put a stop to.

hi everybody!!

ells.. good luck w/ Thanksgiving.. times like these, im kinda glad roger is not real close to his fam LOL..

but i am a big fan of compromise.. everyone knows that roger hasn't seen his kids since June and i know its killing him.. i wanted him to book a trip right after the interview so that he could spend the holidays with them.. Lord knows, i want our first xmas to be special, but there is a bigger picture.. he will most likely have a job soon and can't go see them, and then when he can they will be in school.. he of course protested BIG TIME, but if he needed to make a decision like that, i wanted to let him know i was behind him .

i hate that lehi's dad is not being considerate to ya'll and your plans, and believe me my girl.. i would be a lil teed of myself, but it is the DAY AFTER thanksgiving.. i think if it was the day of, then you should def be on the war path..and your parents live close to the dad?? so its convenient for him to see him while ya'll are there vs back in your neck of the woods right????

If its something he really wants to do, he might be reluctant to tell you if he feels you don't agree.. Tell him how you feel but make sure that he knows the decision is up to him, that will keep him from feeling he was backed into a decison and resenting you for it.

just my two cents.. about it.. man family

I really like Lincecum....his motion is like ballet. Just beautiful. But, Wainwright should've won. Did you see the vote? Lincecum 100, Carp 94, Wainwright 90. Guess they really did steal the votes from each other.
