Ala. woman lets daughter ride in box on top of van

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- An Alabama woman has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police say she let her daughter ride in a cardboard box on top of their van. Albertville Police spokesman Sgt. Jamie Smith said the 37-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after police received a call about a minivan on a state highway with a child riding on top.

Smith said the woman told police the box was too big to go inside the van, and that her daughter was inside the box to hold it down.

Smith said the mother told officers it was safe because she had the box secured to the van with a clothes hanger.

The 13-year-old daughter wasn't harmed and was turned over to a relative. A jail worker said the mother was out on bond Monday.

A person who puts another person on top of a van in a cardboard box then moves the vehicle, is not in their right mind.

There are many many many people who are not in their right mind.

Actually, now that I think about it...

My dad used to have a 15' aluminum boat. After fishing trips he would have me sit in the back of it for weight as he backed it into it's spot. I was in the car when we were driving on the road tho.

Actually, now that I think about it...

My dad used to have a 15' aluminum boat. After fishing trips he would have me sit in the back of it for weight as he backed it into it's spot. I was in the car when we were driving on the road tho.

I remember my uncle once tied up my GT snow racer to his ski-doo and took me on a wild ride that ended up in me breaking my arm.

My mom almost killed him. :)

What do you expect her to do?? put a rock in the box?? rock would dent the roof, leave scratches! Kids are soft, thus no scratches! 1 smart lady, maybe the 1st female American president!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Ugh..how horrible. Not that long ago, a lady about my age, let her daughter, in her early 20's ride on top of the car, while she was driving, and the daughter slid off, and the Mom drove over her. She died. Some people will never learn.
