It was funny though because a pre-nup came into our discussion because of my husband's second ex-wife ( Mother of the 7 and 8 boys )Somehow, my brother in-law read somewhere that she maybe able to sue my hsband for additional child support ( and she is already receiving $1,050 a month!!!) once I start working here in America because it is considered an additional income to the family. He told me we may have to do a pre-nup to protect my future income from the greedy ex wife. To settle the issue, he consulted his lawyer and what a big relief that under Florida laws, the ex-wife can't do that.

Under Texas Law, Your Husbands Ex-Wife can/could use your income to increase her child support payments.

My nephew married a Pinay about 10 years ago, and after his wife started working soon came a court order to revisit his child support payments.

He had a pre nup drawn up, and that stopped the court system dead in it's track from awarding his x anymore monthly ransom payments.

I don't get much time to keep up with VJ like Rhean does, but I'm glad y'all are giving here advice on everything she asks about. I wasn not planning on drawing up a pre-nupt then have her look at and sign it. My plan was to sit down and write up what we want in the pre-nupt and hand it to an attorney to write up. Needing only one attorney is cheaper and that way we both know what is going into the agreement.

The reasons I need a pre-nupt were very well described by the responses to this post. I have assets from a previous marraige and ownership in some businesses. Texas law does have several things that specifically can't be in a pre-nupt (child support, infidelity issues etc) and the pre-nupt I was planning was going to be simple - I keep what I started with (including a bunch of debt that she will not be responsible for) and we split the things we earn together after we are married.

I do appreciate all the advice everyone gives here and everyones advice has really helped in all our waiting and processing! - Y'all rock!

You have to revisit your plan on just having one attorney. If that particular attorney is assigned as your attorney, your prenuptial might be useless later on due to lack of legal representation from Rhean. Having one attorney is cheaper now but could be expensive in your part in the future...

One should look at a Marriage just like a Business Contract.

How will the marriage benefit each party, and take more business approach to love.

I for one stay away from woman who:

Can't control their spending or can't manage money

Who like to drink alcholol or smoke

Who can't control their weight

Who can't control their anger

Marriage is a business. THe same agency that handles business mergers and matters also processes marriages and divorces.

For all men getting married , age 25 or younger, it should be called "Marriage Business" just to get their attention.

We know that there is statistical chance of 50% of a marriage in the USA to end in divorce, yet few are willing to take out "Divorce Insurance."

Driving in our cars each day, we have a much smaller statistical chance of getting into an accident (3%), yet 99 of 100 of us get car insurance (pretend it is not a law to get it, 'cause even 20 years ago, most drivers got car insurance to PROTECT THEMSELVES.

THerefore, for many men who get foreign bride after going thru the terrible divorce process with ugly american woman, a prenupt just makes sense and puts mind at ease, and shouldn't mean that he believes his marriage will fail or that he does not trust his bride.

haha I would agree to that. Constitutional laws have some ways of protecting women's rights.

In relation to the ironic humor, it boils down to the character of both man and woman. Stating the worst case scenario in a couple, if one appears to be outrightly greedy,leech, undeniably insecure of the possessions and love a person has, then prenup ISNOT an option. He/she has to GET OUT OF THE RELATIONSHIP and find someone else. Someone who has his/her ACTS TOGETHER. 100%SURE of him/her.Tried and tested overtime. Then THIS IS THE ONE!
