The tragedy that typhoon Ondoy brought to the country was very devastating. If you have watched the news on TV or online, most probably your hearts tightened because of the horrible, heart-wrenching videos/images that our unfortunate fellow Filipino brothers and sisters went through. It may have even brought tears in your eyes. We felt the deepest of sympathy for them. We expressed how sorry we felt for them; we lifted up prayers to heaven. However, we can do better aside from saying our prayers and conveying our empathy through words. How? By sharing our blessings to those who lost their homes and properties, the hungry, the people who lost their loved ones. Your donations are needed. It does not matter how much you give. Each dollar or peso you give will make a big difference to the rescue and recovery of the victims.

I'm not doing too well after being laid off, but I was looking on how to donate $20 or $50, not much, but it can feed a group of people for a few days.

How do I pay online with a credit card to the Philippines Red Cross? They say there is a link, but I haven't seen one.

That is great Evelyn! We sent ours online. My husband's aunt also donated :)

$20 or $50 is already a big help. If you want to donate through Philippine Red Cross you can send it through bank to bank using their dollar account. You can also use Xoom.com and deposit the money on their bank account. I believe there's a coupon code for September that you can use on Xoom so that you don't have to pay the fee.

PNRC's dollar accounts are the ff:

BANCO DE ORO

Port Area Branch

DOLLAR ACCOUNT : 453-0039482

Type of Account : SAVINGS

SWIFT CODE : BNOR PH MM

BANK OF PHILIPPINE ISLAND

METRO BANK

Anda Circle Port Area Branch

PHILIPPINE NATIONAL BANK

UNION BANK OF THE PHILIPPINES

Got it from their website.

I donated PHP2000.

http://www.redcross.org.ph/Site/PNRC/Defau...S=48&SS=972

For those who want to use credit card, my bank called me with a suspicious transaction, I approved it.

I posted on my facebook wall and asked friends/family to donate. When you spend time down there and get to know the people, it can be hard seeing these things.

If I could get a free plane ticket, I would go down there and offer my support, I'm trained in rescue and medical.

That is great GuardianOne! PHP2000 can already provide meals to the victims. It's a good thing that you spread the call for help to your friends and family on FB too. That will help a lot!
