Mornin' folks! Our plans were cancelled last night due to the rain so instead of the maze I took the girls to an outside mall. We love going there because they have a band playing in the court and it's like a busy little city in itself. You know out here in nowhere land we don't have too many thrills so it was nice.

Maureen...I would use the roller but that is because I am lazy and want to cover more surface at one time. My husband painted our entire inside of the house before we moved in and he had never painted before in his life. I helped with two rooms and we were partially on the way to divorce court....lollllllllllllllll...some things you can work together and others you just can't and painting falls high on the can't list for us!!

Kelly...you should see my daughters hot mess of a wardrobe in her room. She thinks she is the bomb diggity babysitting and she had about 120 bucks that was burning a hole in her pocket last night. She hit the big sale at Aeropostale. She drives me crazy though but I was the same way at her age. My husband hates to open her closet said it freaks him out he thinks she is hiding somebody in there with all of the clothes because it just isn't possible for one girl her age to wear all of those.

Tamara.....It's really good to hear how things worked out with your move. I read a few days ago about how much easier life was there. I hope it continues to be this way for you and your husband and that is where you make home home for a long time.

Amy...I wished I could help you out hon, but I have no clue. My husband always did that stuff in Egypt but like Donna said there has to be somebody here that can at least translate it for you.

Jeanne...Congrats to Wael. What a great accomplishment in a secondary language. My hat is off to him!

Have any of you had any luck finding someone to notarize arabic documents in the US? We need to set up a power of attorney, but the consulate requires the forms to be in arabic (or arabic and english) and I am having a HARD time finding any place in Oregon. As far as I understand, the notary is only notarizing the signature, not the document, so I'm not sure why they have to know what the document says. But that's beside the point.

u might try the mosque in Portland they should have someone there than can do the translation, or even someone in Corvallis at the college there

My husband set up a POA for his family in Cairo. He just got the form from the consulate's website, went to a notary, then had the state notarize the notary and sent the form to his family (no translation requested/required). You are right about notarizing the signature only, but I suppose a notary can refuse if they are uncomfortable with what they are stamping. Maybe look for an arab notary

Good morning MENA, yes a notary can refuse any documnet for notarizing, Im a notary and done it many times. And I have a good friend who is a Arabic translator, she works for the courts here in Harris County Texas, she translated all my hubbys docs that were in Arabic. Anyone needs a name and number for her, Im happy to give it out. She is certified as a Arabic Court Translator.

Exactly, that is why I've refused so many docs. If it is not in English or have translations that I can read, then forget it, find another. Even though we are only notarizing that persons signature and not the document itself, we can lose our notary status.

I am home Mena! The doctor could not really pinpoint my problem but he did rule out the heart and lungs. I asked him about panic attacks and he said maybe so he gave me xanax to take when i feel this way. And ever since I've been home i've had this heavyness come and go. Sigh, am just glad to be home by my puppy and hubby!

Amy, what exactly is the Power of Attorney for? There are restricted POA's and ones where the appointed person can make almost all outlined decisions/signatures etc. My best advice would probably be to find an arabic or arabic speaking lawyer, who can file the POA and notarize it as well.

He needs a POA for a case he has in the courts in Egypt over some monetary stuff... Also for things relating to him either taking leave from or resigning from his job.

Yeah, we printed those out, that's what we were going to use. On the embassy's website they suggested having both the arabic and english translation versions notarized, then they would legalize them together at the embassy, but i'm not sure if a non-arabic speaking notary would notarize the arabic version even if the english one was there alongside it, because they couldn't verify if it was the same document or not. the nearest arabic-language notary i can find is in seattle, which is about four hours away driving. i will do what you recommended, though, estadia, and contact someone up at the masjids in portland or down in corvallis... maybe they could be of help.
