Packet 3 and Packet

Does USA Embassy in London send out both packet 3 and 4 to Beneficer in UK or just one?

Also, If I have left my original Birth Cirtificate in USA, will my Wife need to send this back to me or will a photocopy do?

My wedding certificate, we only have the stamped documents with the fancy stick thing that we received from the judge on the day of our wedding. The documents included that marriage licence, signed by the judge, witnesses and my wife and myself, the judge then used a special machine which stamped the document with the official court stamp (the only way I can explain it). We also received a certificate which was much less fancy, states our names, date of marriage and includes a fancy official stamped, officiating the certificate.

We haven't paid the state capital any money for them to send us a copy of a marriage certificate. We have been told we can obtain such a certificate from www.vitalcheck.com.

Does anyone know if a need to purchase this marriage certificate from the above website, cause the London embassy website does state the documents given at the time of the wedding will be sufficient:

Marriage Certificates (http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/iv_15.html)

Married applicants must obtain an original marriage certificate, or a certified copy, bearing the appropriate seal or stamp of the issuing authority.

If my wedding documents bear the appropriate stamp, we won't need to purchase anything else would we?

Going for a K3 visa, but I think all "K" visas are processed the same.

Could anyone please share their experience with me?

Best of Luck. Best wishes. Thank you.

They do send a packet 3 and a packet 4, but packet 3 is just a piece of paper with the link to their website that you've already posted. Packet 4 is the interview letter. An original or certified copy of your birth certificate will be required- a photocopy will not do. Be very careful about what you bring for your marriage certificate. You call it a marriage license- that is not acceptable. A marriage license just states that you are allowed to get married, not that you have gotten married. What you need is the certificate.

Hi,

Thanks for the info. So basically all docs will need to be posted back to me, damn! I was hoping that my wife would be able to send the docs to the NVC and they would be able to send everything to London. When we got married we do a "certificate" which stated marriage date, both names and witness signatures and judge signature followed by the official gold starey stamp.

Best of Luck. Best wishes. Thank you.

Ok that sounds like the certificate you need then.

Are you following both the CR-1 and the K-3? If you are doing both unfortunately you will need two sets of your original documents. If you are only going for the K-3 then there is no need to send anything th NVC.

I might as well purchase the certificate. Is there any change they will accept photo copy of my Birth Certificate at the Interview?

Best of Luck. Best wishes. Thank you.

Going down the K3 route. I want to get to the USA fast as possible!

The K-3 actually cost me time. The embassy in London was really slacking and I got through NVC before they even touched my K-3... but maybe you'll have better luck now that the summer is over. Good luck.

If you are just getting your case numbers now, and all your certificates are already with your wife in the U.S., you should seriously consider going for the CR-1. London is taking 4-6 weeks to schedule K interviews and you'll be done and booked through NVC by then...

Just from reading the posts in the UK forum, and from my personal wait. I was done with NVC and had a CR-1 appointment before they even entered my checklist response for the K-3 in their computer. My K-3 interview, had it ever been scheduled, would likely have actually been a few weeks after the CR-1. Even if they have sped up in the past month or so, I think it's worth it to wait an extra week, maybe two weeks and get the immigrant visa. If you have everything you need to submit to NVC ready, I say absolutely go for it- it won't take you any longer at all. You'll notice that there are hardly any K-3 filers in London for this very reason. It's your decision though.
