DS-160 Question

This may be a silly question, but it's driving me crazy and I can't find info about it.

In the one section of the DS-160 it asks how long you intend to stay in the US.

There's no option that's "permanently".

Do I just have to guess in years?

That part just totally throws me off.

I know, I didn't like that either. I can't remember what I put... 20, or something. I tried to put 10+, but it wouldn't let me, so I'd assume you can't write words in there. Just something to show that it will be a long time though.

Hm, I wish they let us use the + symbol.

It'd make sense.

I'll do 25 years. It's a nice number

I think I put 99... If I remember correctly they don't let you put in anything later than 2 digits. It is a stupid question, you're right!

I think its because its also used for other types of non-immigrant visa's so there could be people applying for like...a student visa and their length of stay could be 4 years...or something. Was definately dumb though to have to put down on paper for us

You'd think though that there'd be an N/A box you could check off for that like other questions, or it wouldnt let you fill it in if you do the K visa.

I think that needs to be a fixed a bit

I just put 90 days because is the maximum validity of the K1 visa (which you are filling the form out for). I didn't think it was accurate to say "20 years" because this visa in particular would expire long before that.

In the end I put like 70 years.

I'm glad that piece of paperwork is done and over with.

I'm really sick of giving them the same info over and over.
