I-134 Advice please

I hope that maybe someone here can offer some advice based on their experience in a south Asian Embassy. helpsmilie.gif

I have applied for a K-1 visa for my fiance and we just received our Packet 3 from the Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I am working to gather documentation for my I-134, but I am really unsure if I need a co-sponsor or not. Basically, the embassy requested my past 3 year's tax returns on our checklist of things to bring to the interview. I was a full time student and worked part time for the first part of 07, graduated, then took a year off of work because my first husband passed away (all in 2007). I just started my current position in June 2008, so my 2008 return shows only $11,200 adjusted gross income. I currently make $26,900 per year and don't have any dependents so I am technically more than qualified to be a sponsor, but I am just worried that because my tax returns show a lower income, that we will get denied. I really don't want to ask for a cosponsor, but also don't want to jepordize our case. I have a letter from my employer stating my start date and salary, as well as all of my pay stubs since June 08. I also have my transcripts to prove my full time student status.

What would you do in my situation based on your experience with embassies in south asia?

05/04/2009: I-129F NOA1
07/17/2009: I-129F NOA2
08/03/2009: Left NVC
08/07/2009: Letter Received
09/15/2009: Date Rec Instructions (Pkt 3)
10/06/2009: Submitted Pkt 3
11/21/2009: Emailed Embassy in Dhaka for interview date since didn't yet receive Pkt 4
11/21/2009: Received reply from Embassy in Dhaka with interview date
12/02/2009: Interview: Both of us attended and we received 221.g and request for co-sponsor
05/31/2010: Submitted new financial documents to Embassy (without co-sponsor since I more than qualified myself)
06/24/2010: Second Interview: Received 221.g for additional processing (blue sheet), but were told all of our documents were accepted and good. All proof of relationship documents returned.
AP from 06/24/2010
07/15/2010: Called DOS to check on status of AP. They said it is in process at the Embassy level.
07/25/2010: Emailed Dhaka Embassy to check case status

We were in more or less the same situation as you are...my wife is working part time and doing her masters at the same time in USA. Her income was not sufficient to support me at the time of applying. So our lawyer suggested that we show her parents as cosponsors and we obliged. I am not a legal expert, but i suggest that you file a cosponsor for the case, provided that the procedure does not get delayed by the additional paperwork -- simply because your tax return does not show your current income and this technicality gives the embassy grounds to reject/delay your file. Dont take a chance on this thing, i'd say.
