Interview passed in Tampa!

My husband had his interview today in Tampa (3 year rule). We got very, very lost (recent construction has been done to the roads near the office and our GPS had no idea where it was!) but arrived at the sensible time of 10 minutes before the interview (8:20). Passed through airport-style security, and got to sit down and people watch for just a few minutes before my husband was called to the back. I think he was called in exactly at his appointment time (8:30). It was surprising because we were prepared to wait all morning!

My husband went back alone with the officer who seemed to be a very nice man, and did the expected: had my husband go through the N-400 under oath, answer 6 civics questions, and read "who elects congress?" and write "the people elect congress" (or something like that). The IO asked to see our tax transcripts (we forgot to submit those in our original application), my (USC) birth certificate or passport (took both and made photocopies), and asked whose name our lease was in (both) but said he didn't need to see it. Then he asked about documentation for a dropped misdemeanor charge that my husband incurred when he first moved to the US (he had a certified copy of the arrest affidavit and of the court disposition which we had also submitted 3 times previously).

Then the IO called me (and our almost 3 year old son) back and asked to see my driver's license. He then asked me, under oath, if my husband and I had ever been separated, and if we currently lived together. The IO was very cheerful and put us at ease. He said that my husband's file needed to be signed off on by a supervisor due to the arrest, but that it was just a formality, and since the charges were dropped there would be no problem (let's hope he's right!).

He then gave us a piece of paper that said my husband had passed the tests and was recommended for the oath. Said that he should be included in the Tampa ceremony on september 28th, and that we would get a letter.

Our son then asked him if daddy was an American now, which was pretty darn cute. The IO responded "almost". Yay! Thanks VJ people. We couldn't have made it this far without you!!!
